LSU's fall from grace following its NCAA Final Four appearance in 2006 actually began over the last half of the 2006-07 season, not 2007-08 when the Tigers had their first losing record since the 2000-01 campaign.

Enter former Stanford coach Trent Johnson, who has taken the baton in Baton Rouge after earning Pac-10 coach of the year honors and taking the Cardinal to the Sweet 16.

Johnson's Stanford teams were built on defense, but that strategy was simplified given the presence of tandem 7-footers Brook and Robin Lopez. For LSU to pick up where Johnson hopes, they'll need to start from scratch with the "defense wins" approach.
