STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP)—Talor Battle scored 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Penn State past New Hampshire 70-50 on Sunday.
Jamelle Cornley chipped in for Penn State (4-0), scoring 17 points and grabbing eight boards. New Hampshire (1-2) was led by Tyrece Gibbs and Eric Gilchrese, who scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.
In a first half that saw seven lead changes, Battle scored the final seven points of the opening stanza to give the Nittany Lions a 36-29 lead at halftime.
New Hampshire stunned Penn State to start the game, jumping out to a 4-0 lead on back-to-back buckets by Dane DiLiegro.
The Nittany Lions shot 49 percent from the field, while the Wildcats shot 32 percent.
