BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP)—Freshman Luke Babbitt had 20 points and 12 rebounds to help Nevada beat Montana State 72-63 on Saturday night in the season opener for both teams.
Armon Johnson added 16 points and Ray Kraemer had 12 for the Wolf Pack.
Nevada had an 18-point lead early in the second half, but Montana State scored 24 of the next 27 points to cut it to three at 60-57 with 4:58 to play. The Wolf Pack held off the Bobcats by making eight of their last 10 free throws.
Bobby Howard led Montana State with 19 points. Divaldo Mbunga had 16 points and 11 rebound, and Will Bynum added 13 points.
