FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP)—Jake Diebler and Jarryd Loyd scored 10 points each to lead a balanced Crusaders attack as Valparaiso beat IPFW 74-64 Thursday night.
Four other Crusaders combined for 34 points as Valparaiso (2-0) went 24-of-48 from the field and 9-of-15 from 3-point range.
Diebler and Loyd each shot 3-of-4 from the charity stripe, helping Valpo to a 68 percent mark on free throws.
The Crusaders, who never trailed, led by as many as 17 on a dunk by Little that made it 68-51 with 4:45 left in the second half. The Mastodons got no closer than 10 after that.
Jakari Johnson had 18 points to lead IPFW (0-2), which shot 22-of-48 from the field and 4-of-15 from beyond the arc. Jaraun Burrows had 15 and DeWitt Scott and Demetrius Johnson 13 each.
The Mastodons outrebounded the Crusaders 29-28 and shot 69.6 percent from the free-throw line.
