The Dagger - NCAAB

Faked you out! Oooh. Totally got you. You thought I was going to say John Wall was cleared to play for Kentucky. Alas, he is not. But according to the AP's report on Kentucky's Blue-White scrimmage last night, Wall is still really, really good at basketball. Just thought you should know:

John Wall took off on two feet, pulled his left arm behind his head and threw down a tomahawk dunk. Moments later, the Kentucky freshman point guard took an inbounds pass and beat everybody down the court for a layup.

Yes, Wall scored 25 points in the team's annual intrasquad scrimmage. He's good. Immediately afterward, Kentucky coach John Calipari was forced to answer John Wall-related questions that had to do with topics less fun to discuss than just how good Wall is looking in these exhibitions. He had to deal with the fact that merely two weeks before Kentucky's home opener, Wall is still not cleared to play. The issue arises from Wall's relationship with former AAU coach Brian Clifton, who was registered as an agent while he coached Wall. This isn't a major deal; if guilty, Wall would miss three or four games at the most. But it does clearly annoy John Calipari all the same:

“There’s probably 10-15 kids going through the same thing that John’s going through, but he’s been cleared in every way,” Calipari said. “The other stuff they’re looking at, they’re looking at with a lot of kids. Asked to clarify his answer, Calipari bristled for a moment. “There’s all kinds of different levels of clearance and like I said, there’s 10-15 kids going through the same thing,” he said. “Let’s talk about the scrimmage.”

But the scrimmage is boring. Let's talk about eligibility issues. There's literally nothing remotely banal about the NCAA's approach to student eligibility. It's so very exciting ... *yawns*. Woo. What time is it? Did someone turn the heat on in here? I suddenly feel so very ... sleepy.

Wall and Kentucky go hand and hand like crime in the projects. This is just another school that will have to erase wins and face sactions later on. Calipari is scum and he recruits nothing but punk thugs that are one and done.

I agree w/ csr, Wall has done nothing but excel at playing PG. Any program would love to have the #1 ranked recruit. I also agree w/ elchorizo5 that Cal has a record for Erasing Final Four seasons w/ violations.

I have no hate for UK, no love either. I feel my post to be true. Cal has "vacated" 2 final four seasons at two different schools. The only other "vacated" final fours were 92 and 93 at Michigan, for 1 infraction. The opposing argument would be he is one of 4 coaches to lead 2 different schools to a final four. Williams (KU, UNC), Olson (Iowa, AZ), Pitino (UK, Providence,Louisville ). So Cal's record is "suspect" and to this point Wall has done nothing, good or bad.

    basketball fan,
Google Search results: "He was not arrested. He was simply given a citation that we are fully cooperating with the DA's office to resolve this matter as soon as possible," his attorney, Anna Smith, said.

Sounds like sour grapes on the part of #6. Yes, Roy loses out on recruits just like everybody else. Will you say the same if Harrison Barnes chooses Duke? BTW, Lawson got a DUI and I don't remember Roy kicking him off the team, do you?
