The Grizzlies have signed their two draft choices and are putting them to work.

O.J. Mayo, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, traded to the Grizzlies on draft night, made a smooth, but winded debut in his first Memphis workout July 8.

He's getting a crash course, since the Grizzlies started competing on Friday in the NBA Summer League with a 12-man roster that includes Mayo and late first-round draft pick Darrell Arthur.

"Today was my first time going up and down (the court in 5-on-5 action) in about two months," Mayo said July 8. "I was kind of winded. But I'll get it together. I want to take it day by day and get better each day. I want to get better at everything."

Mayo's shooting has been on target, but he needs work on his entry passes and ball-handling...

O.J. Mayo played mostly point guard and struggled early before scoring 14 points in the second half as he and the Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 82-74 in their NBA Summer League finale Wednesday night.
