The Minnesota Timberwolves spent a lot of time and money trying to get Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio(notes) to come play for them after the team drafted him fifth overall this past summer. Team bigwig David Kahn flew over to Spain a few times and tried to work out some sort of crazy buyout but obviously nothing ever worked out and Rubio is now playing for FC Barcelona.
Rubio is still saying he wants to play in the NBA someday. Presumably that's what he intended when he declared himself for this year's draft, too, and that didn't seem to work out. The Wolves aren't bothering themselves to picture him in their jersey anytime soon and it appears that the team will try and trade the rights to the guard before next year's NBA draft, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
It isn't expected that the team would get much in return on such a deal since most teams that have any interest in Rubio (read: the New York Knicks) don't want to get involved in any long-term contract negotiations before the free-agent signing period starts next summer when the All-Star buffet opens up for NBA general managers.

You reveal how little you know about basketball when you say that Kevin Love is more well rounded than David Lee. Lee averaged 16 ppg and 11 rpg last year. Kevin Love scored 11 ppg and had 9rpg. How could anyone say he was better? If the trade got done it would probably include salary cap players that the twolves could dump to make more room in free agency. This has been happening a lot in recent years. There's a viable scenario, so now you STFU!

It is you that knows nothing about basketball.
Love only played 18MPG for the 1st 2/3 of his ROOKIE season. Then picked up the pace when he got more minutes. His RPG led all rookies, & was better than 80% of the NBA vets that played more minutes.
David Lee is Better than Love, in fact he LED the NBA in double-doubles. But, comparing the stats of a rookie & a proven stud shows your lack of ability to make a valid comparison.

Smooth. They should've traded on draft night like everyone said...OR draft someone else.

Love is a better passer, sees the floor better, shoots better, has a better post-up game and is a much more well-rounded player. Not to mention, he was injured at the start of last year (rookie season) and Lee has been in the league for what, 3 years now?
Oh, and as bad as the Knicks were they still had a more talented team than the T'Wolves did last year...and that does matter to a post guy.

Divine, i understand where your coming from. Knicks got nothing. They got rid of everyone for the Lebron sweepstakes 2010. It would be funny as hell if Lebron decides to stay in Cleveland. LOL...Knicks fans would riot and storm Madison Square Garden. Im gonna sit back and watch the fireworks...haha..
