When Mike D'Antoni became coach of the New York Knicks before last season got underway and brought his run ‘n' gun style to the Big Apple, everybody figured slowpoke center Eddy Curry(notes) wouldn't be with the team for much longer. But no other team wanted to take on Curry's contract so he managed to survive one season under D'Antoni.
Two weeks ago, the coach told him he couldn't practice with the rest of the Knicks till he got his weight under control. Now the New York Daily News is reporting that the team has told Curry that he has to hit a certain weight before he can play with the team at all. It isn't apparently looking likely that he'll be in the season opener against the Miami Heat.
Madison Square Garden Chairman James Dolan supposedly had a hand in the decision to keep Curry away from the rest of the team until he got his conditioning act together.

him with their first pick and don't forget they traded Elton Brand for draft
rights to Tyson Chandler on the same day. Both were over rated and go
over paid. Kind of explains why neither the Bulls or the Knicks have been
a threat for many years.
