Heat's Chalmers not happy about Arroyo's arrival?

“CarlosSecond-year guard Mario Chalmers(notes) can say all he wants about the arrival of seven-year vet Carlos Arroyo(notes) not bothering him at all and that everything is cool, but practices have apparently taken on extra tension since free-agent Arroyo was signed and brought in on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

Last year, Chalmers was the first Heat rookie to ever play all 82 games of the regular season. But now he's got some serious competition for his spot in the lineup and things have kicked up a notch in practice. "There were times we'd have some drills and the intensity was way up,'' coach Erik Spoelstra said after yesterday's workout. Assistant coach Ron Rothstein has noted to Spoelstra that things have been more competitive in the last few days as well.

    i said it before and i'll say it again. mario chalmers is no starter in the nba.
    he might start for a lottery team, but he will never be a starter for a contender.
    i was lobbying them to sign allen iverson and later jamaal tinsley or stephon marbury to put chalmers back to the bench where role players like him belong.
    now arroyo is not the answer, but at least they can start splitting minutes.

    He's having a hard time against Carlos Arroyo? Now I've seen everything. Joke. But it would've been much better if they signed Jamaal Tinsley.

    Chalmers is capable of being a starting pg. He was a rookie last year. Give him a chance see what happens

    mario chalmers really doesnt have a lot of upsides.
    he pretty much reached his ceiling already: a solid, but unspectacular borderline starter.
    not a lot of athleticism, good defender (gambles for steals), already 23, not a great passer/floor general.

    Gotta ride the wave on this one. chalmers is a good defender at the point and thats it. he doesnt make alot of threes, doesnt have size or blazing speed, and isnt that great of a creator. kinda reminds me of eric snow. arroyo is outta control so he shouldnt take his spot but chalmers is definitely not starter material. good luck winning with this crew d wade.

    i can't believe we're even discussing this; couple years back arroyo was gunnin for orlando's starting pg spot (sh!ttin on j nelson) .... this guy is miami's pg

    Arroyo is actually pretty good...he just hasn't been able to get the minutes. Chalmers will only get better, now im not saying that he will be an all-star...but he will get better.

    I agree. Arroyo is not that good,..but better than Chalmers.Chalmers cannot be a starting point guard in any NBA team.

    Carlitos de PR pal mundo es el mejor si se le da la oportunidad y los minutos puede correr este equipo facil, chalmers es joven y juega bien pero Arroyo y su experiencia le hace mas bien al equipo. Este equipo necesita un PG que pueda poner la bola en la mano de los tiradores y crear situaciones es jugador es Arroyo.

    Now in English Arroyo is pretty good, he just need minutes and confidence, he can create and put the ball in shooters hands. Right now hes better option for the Heat. Chalmers is good but still learning.

    Lo que pasa con Arroyo es que le gusta tirar!! Eso lo jode, este equipo ya tiene tiradores. Necesitamos un buen PG que de verdad ponga el balón en las manos de los tiradores y Arroyo no es ese PG. He's shoot first, pass later!! That's what happen to him in Orlando, ademas de que Jameer Nelson esta muy cabron!! Pero veremos a ver que pasa!! Yo espero que tenga una buena temporada, porque como quiera necesitábamos un mejor guard.

    I would expect that from Mario Chalmers, since he was by default the Starting point guard of the Miami Heats, due to lack of backcourt depth. Sure, Miami could of signed Jamal Tinsley, a proven veteran. I think Carlos Arroyo is a good compliment to Dwayne Wade. He's a pass first point guard, a decent defender. And a pretty good leader. He brings the savvy defense playing for Jerry Sloan and correct me if I'm wrong, Larry Brown. Chalmers thought he's the point man of the future, but I doubt it. If anything Pat Reily likes Veteran Guard's. Accept your role as a role player of the bench. Your no starter in this league.

    well when he was in college he was a shootiong guard so his rookie season was the first time he was playing pg... so i think we need to give him some more time to develope his nba game and if anything this should just motivate him to get better

    the only thing that Chalmers does better than Arroyo is shoot the 3 ball. Arroyo is going to be the starter by Christmas.

    The heat should of singed jamaal Tinsley and waived Carlos Arroyo because Tinsley would be a good fit for the heat not Carlos Arroyo

    Some "FANS" (like Pryest P) still demostrate their paranoia, racial discrmination and stupid position about latins. In this situation its a matter of skills, game control and mentality of a point guard. See Carlitos stats in the last World Championships celebrated in PR. There is nothing to prove. Go Heat,!!!
