Former Portland Trail Blazers center Chris Dudley is apparently thinking about joining the Republican primary race for governor, according to the Oregonian. He's apparently going to make a final decision before year's end.
Dudley has always been involved with a few charities in Oregon and he's got a family history of government involvement. His grandfather was apparently the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark during the Nixon and Ford years.
Still, Dudley, who was in the NBA from 1987 to 2003, has to be hoping this all goes better than his extremely poor history of foul shooting in the NBA. IN one game, he missed 17 of 18 shots.
Still, you gotta think the 6'11" Dudley will be head and shoulders above his competitors.

It is because of the damn liberals and there anti business, pro tax, bull shlt way of thinking. They over regulate and over tax large businesses so guess what, those business leave the state, either for foriegn lands or for business friendly states where they don't get screwed so much by the local government.
I know he wont win because there are too many granola munchers in the state, but it is a nice thought anyway.

I appreciate your commitment in changing around the Republican mindset of the past 20 years or so. Most progressives like myself have no problem with fiscally conservative/socially progressive Republicans and I hope Dudley is one of them. Nothing wrong with economic reforms as long as its fair for all hard working citizens, however to completely paint an entire group of unfortunate individuals as lazy because they went bankrupt due to hospital bills is just as bad as calling every single Republican as a racist bigot. 60% of bankruptcies in 2007 were due to mounting medical bills, and 80% of those who went bankrupt had medical insurance. My company's premiums went up 15% which marks the fourth consecutive year of double digit increases in premiums. For all so called conservatives on this board who think this is a sustainable system then I pray none of you comes down with a insurance straining disease because the government services you so detest would be the last remaining for you in avoiding economic catastrophe. Just because some of us require government services, that we the people fund, doesn't make us communists or even socialists. Fortune 500 company A. who can afford to hire "consultive firms" so government can do its bidding is no more hard working than small business guy B. that can't hire good people because they could not afford to buy good medical insurance.
The fallacies of lazy people, hard working, communists, socialists, blah blah blah need to die. They are overgeneralizations and they should die now so we can all work on real solutions.

@missed
Socially progressive republicans - Thanks for the good laugh - republicans have no social conscience - see jack's double post as evidence.

UMMMM i'm white also, so i guess that makes you the idiot. Now how does his grand pappy being the ambassador to Denmark under the corrupt Nixon/ (and Ford) presidency make him more qualified to be governor ? He is running on the Republican ticket, that goes to show what his beliefs are.

For the record I am not a republican, I am a member of the libertarian party. I just believe republicans have a lot more common sense then the other major party in our system so I tend to support them instead.
About republicans having no social conscience, what about the fical responsibility and common sense of your kind?
You are funny.

I think you meant Fiscal Responsibility and it was a democrat (Bill Clinton) that took us to a record surplus and balanced the budget. It was Bush JR and the Republican party that took that record surplus and balanced budget and turned it into a record Deficit, Bush JR spent more money than every president before him put together. The Republican party is a racist party filled with old white men who have devoted their lives to the almighty dollar, and their own personal interests, Rather than the interests of the the PEOPLE that they swore an oath to when they took office. This Country NEEDS publicly funded elections. With equal, predetermined amounts of time on every media outlet for each candidate. Until we have that the special interest money will control everything. Quality health care should be a right for EVERY American, even the one's that are less fortunate than you or i Jack. How much money is in your wallet/purse should NEVER determine whether you live or die. Anyone who thinks differently has no social conscience and the last time i checked the republican party is and has been on the side of the insurance company's.
