“AndrePortland Trail Blazers head coach Nate McMillan is not happy with his team, according to the Oregonian. He was supremely irked when his team lost 108-97 to the Utah Jazz last night in the team's penultimate preseason game. He went so far as to question the team's "effort, execution and will."

The apparent problem is that the team's chemistry is not coming together at all smoothly, according to the Oregonian. Adding in Andre Miller(notes) and Juwan Howard(notes) from free agency and returning Martell Webster(notes) to the roster hasn't proved to go over so well with the other players on the team.

"We just look like we've never seen each other today," Brandon Roy(notes) said. "Guys were making turnovers and looking at each other like, 'Why weren't you there?' I don't know."

Sounds like the early going this season may be rough in Portland.

Bringing in Miller was a not so smart move. IT WILL work out, will take time.
Steve Blake has done a geat job there and should be the focal point at PG.
I'ts not who starts, but who's in there when it counts at the end. Blake can dish and hit 3 bombs like no ones biz.
    GO Steve!

I don't see why they went and got Andre Miller..they didn't need him when they have Blake and Bayless. Webster is back and you have Fernandez and Batum who can play 2 or 3. This is a case where there's too much talented young guys and not enough minutes or time to gel.

K NEL...this is true for many teams, like the Lakers and Celtics for example. These guys need to put their ego's aside and play for the team . The BEST players should start.

The Miller move was bad, it's never good to take a guy who only wants the money. Blake has handled pg duties fine and know Bayless will lose time. Trailblazers are loaded, and should contend if they jell. Howard is a good vet, will teach Oden some tricks and brings a nasty streak.

picking up miller on paper gave them a pg with experience to get over the hump... but blake is a great traditional pg... like a mark price.... scott skiles... should've just let the team grow naturally instead of being in a rush.... the team was still 2 years away from truly contending...

Miller was signed as a stop gap measure while Bayless gets experience, & YES Paddy Mills gets healthy &
some experience. Then they can back up Blake.
Miller announced when he signed that he wants to start & thinks he can lead the Blazers to the next level.
Basicly screw the other PG's. I am the man. Miller= an over inflated Ego that leads 2 CANCER!

Movemaker, I agree. The rest of you I have a question. Are you all related to Steve Blake? If so tell him I think he's a fantastic reserve point guard and I'll enjoy watching him play his 20 minutes a night. If you're not related to Blake then you all know nothing about basketball. Steve Blake compared to Mark Price? Really? How so? They both played their college ball in the ACC, and hmm...nope stop thinking that's it.
By the way, I get that Blazers fans are looking for a reason to explain away why things aren't going well, and first thought is, "it must be the new guy." Yay for simple thought! But, just so you all know last season's starting back court (Steve Blake and Brandon Roy) is currently shooting below 36 percent this pre-season. Opps, that's hole one, popped in simple thought! Steve Blake has started five games this pre-season, to Miller's two and yet Blake is a -35 in the +/- category through seven games this pre-season. Opps, that's hole two popped into simple thought! Oh and money! Yes, Miller took a pay cut this season, while you're star just signed a max extension with the Blazers...why aren't you all talking about Roy getting paid and then coming out and playing like a clown. He's shooting 35.1 percent from the floor and 12.5 percent from behind the three point line. Hole three, should I continue? Nope, not worth it!
Blazers fans need to look at the facts before spouting off about what's really going on here. The Blazers have too many players that want to start, that includes Miller, but also 10 other guys. This isn't a Miller vs Portland issue, nor a Miller vs Blake issue...This situation is deeper than both of those, it's a team wide issue and it needs to get resolved. Too many players not enough minutes. If Roy receives 36-40 minutes a game, that leaves 8-12 minutes a game at the off guard position and 48 at the three. Therefore, best case scenario Portland has 60 minutes to spread out between Batum, Outlaw, Webster, and Fernandez. Think they will be happy with 15 minutes a night? And, that's best case scenario, play Miller, Blake or Bayless any minutes at off guard and that dips well below 15 minutes. That log jam of minutes exists at every position, except power forward where Aldridge should be thrilled. Portland needs to make some moves, two for one trades, a three for one deal...something! Bring back another super star to play along side Roy, Portland has the pieces. McMillan's plan of everyone getting 20 minutes a night will never work.

JeffL, you absolutely nailed it. Couldn't have said it better and don't need to add anything to it.. Decisions have to be made on who is going to sit....or get shipped.

Mark Schlereth peed his pants on the football field regularly and vomited while playing multiple times.
That is more important news than this. The Blazers will be fine and have a splendid season. I am not worried.

nate mcmillan is a f*cking douche for disrespecting my favorite man andre miller like that.
dre is never a problem anywhere and he is unselfish to a fault.
steve blake is nothing but a backup. you don't win championship with a guy like steve blake in your starting lineup unless michael jordan is on your team.
martell webster is a bust. they need to give up on him. howard can still play. he just needs the minutes.
    pg-andre miller, steve blake
sg-brandon roy, rudy fernandez (6th man)
    sf-travis outlaw, ime udoka
    pf-lamarcus aldridge, juwan howard
    c-joel przybilla, greg oden
bayless, webster are busts who shouldn't play. oden is also a bust but at least he is big. batum's role as defensive stopper last year got replaced by udoka. all 3 shouldn't be getting any minute.

whatever man! this team was just a cindarella hyped up team last year with a bunch of young players, and the hype is now over (especially roy with a bunch of lucky hoops), reality kicks in, and this is something every young team faces year after year so quit the wine-ing and grow up and start playing fundamentally and your team will eventually mature into a good contender with confidence.good luck trail-blazers cause you will be trailing all season!!!!
