“RajonThe Boston Celtics knew they wanted to sign point guard Rajon Rondo(notes) to a long-term, lucrative extension. After all, he had helped the team to a championship in his second season and could be on the way there this year. But the team was a little concerned about his maturity level, his "aloof personality," and his lack of ability to connect with teammates sometimes, according to the Boston Globe.

In the negotiations, the team apparently addressed the issues and asked him to step it up on the personality front. "They just want to see it grow congruently with what the team's objectives are," said his agent. "They just said we'd like you to be more engaged, take more responsibility as a leader on and off the court. The message was heard and I don't think it's that big of an issue. He's understanding that.''

Rondo isnt scared of any point guard in the league,Allstar in the making.Step for step hes one of the fastest guards in the league.Only thing hes lacking is a jumpshot, but he doesnt need to score when you have a supporting cast as he does.

...........We'll see what happens when he doesn't have a "big 4" around to make him look good.(remember Devon George) With all of the guns the Celtics have someone's bound to be low on the list of players to be guarded. Let's see what a "star" he is when he's the focus.

rondo is main guy, what he did with CP3 was pretty poor form... but hey, that's not as strong as pistons bad boys era or even bulls MJ era..
everyone talks trash and everyone responds like $h|T... and with KG, RayRay and PP33 are now at the wrong end of their 30s, celtics made a right move to re-sign him..... they made a right choice.. because his stock might be even higher when 90% of 2010 FA/RFA resign.. teams with heaps of money will overpay him more than this. LOL.

It's easy to pass when the PGA Tour is on your team. I hope the Magic/Lakers pound the [profane] outta Rondo and his big mouth. The C's can kiss 55M good-bye. After this season, Rondo's old teammates will have lost all their energy and Celtics will b back on the losing side of the NBA.

Rondo is a good PG (not $55 million good, but still very good), but mouthing off to Chris Paul? Seriously? Yeah, he doesn't have a ring but he does have the complete respect of his teammates and the NBA community. Not to mention he is THE best point man in the game right now. As a Celtics fan I'm glad we have Rondo's talent at the position, but the maturity is obviously lacking.
Grow up Rondo, and leave the child act behind.

Odd that Rondo can do all this and the Celtics can blow past teams and Rondo doesnt even need to score a point to will. Starberry maybe not Jason Kidd yes. But time will tell he is getting mature. Kid gots lots of upside so haters STFU im not a big Rondo fan myself but the kid can play.

apparently after the hornets game when paul tried to get after him in the lockers after the game, ray allen walked into the hornets locker room and basically told paul how embarassed he was of rondo and the way he acts. i get the feeling that the Big 3 tolerate him, but they dont respect him and i dont know if id want to commit to a pg who doesnt command respect from his teammates. i mean come on, its pretty much consensus among all basketball people that cp3 is the best point guard in the league. utah and chicago are probably the only 2 teams who wouldnt trade their pg for cp3 but thats because d-will is perfect for sloan and rose has "potential".
i dont know if hes worth $55 million. his potential is kind of like a poor mans j kidd. hes an good defender, a good rebounder, hes way more athletic, but probably an even worse shooter, not nearly as good a passer and obviously is severely lacking in leadership.

Rondo acts like he's an elite player in the league and is nowhere close. I only wish that KG, Pierce and Allen would all take a day off and let Rondo see what he'd really be able to do with a team that is more like the average team every other point guard has.

I'm a little tired of Rondo's act as well but he's young and he single handedly took over that Chicago series last year....top 5 point guard? No, but they won a title with him there. He does have to mature no doubt.
