NBA - Sports Rumors

“GlenCeltics forward Glen Davis(notes) has done a few dumb things in his life. Like breaking his right thumb in a fight just before the season got underway to put him out for six weeks.

According to the ESPN, he'd like to try another one: playing in the NFL. The 6'9", 290-poiunder is saying it'll happen at some point: "I will try it," he said. "When I become an All-Star in the NBA, when I become a great player in the NBA, then I'll try football. One of my dreams has always been to play football."

He was reportedly an excellent two-way football player when he played in high school in Baton Rouge, La. His positions were defensive end, defensive tackle, and tailback. "I definitely could have made it to the NFL," Davis said and doesn't care which position he plays if a team wants to give him a chance. "It don't matter," he said. "I just want to play."

Hey, with his size and quickness for a guy his size, he could make a pretty decent pass rushing DE with the right training. Bottom line, it's just Big Baby talking smack the way he always does. He's a good interview for that reason, he'll say whatever he's thinking. He's basically a good guy, but kind of a knucklehead too at the same time. He's also been training with mixed martial arts people this past offseason and was looking into doing that too. The only thing he should be worried about now is getting chubby @ss back on the court. Sheldon Williams has looked very good the first 6 games off the bench and will cut into Davis' minutes if it continues.

this fatass already proved his doubters wrong in basketball.
with his college pedigree, he didn't get selected until the 2nd round.
it's time to prove his doubters wrong again.

forget about it,it's one way or the other, either he comes back to NBA or he will have to go for NFL,cause he's never going to be an all-star in the NBA,let alone being one of the great players in the league history.

He is far from a all star and a starter coming off the bench giving kg a breather his best role.I guess he forgotten having kg making him cry last year because he was playing soft, the above post are true ,he getting closer to begin "the Man" but has so very much too do just to be a good nba player much less a all star,I will agree that he need help on his focus which the mixed martial arts will help.Great Man ,has a great heart when the head catch,s up to that heart he will be great

he should probably start thinking about pro wrestling instead, instead of pretending to be an all star NBA playa. his antics would fit in perfectly with the WWE!

An Allstar I don't know, he proved me wrong about his ability to play in the NBA. He's a better basketball player than what most people expect, the 09 NBA playoff's he proved that he was a decent player. Maybe he could play in the NFL

I love reading , well he is training in MMA. That would be a great idea if he wanted to be a MMA fighter. You want to play in the NFL, you might want to hire a position coach and start training on playing football. MMA guys are tough as hell, but lets say he wants to be TE. He needs to be running routes for hours a day. Developing a understanding of nfl offenses. He needs to work on his current job, NBA player and get this pipe dream out of his head. One nfl hit, I mean a real hit and this dream will become a nightmare.

Hes a pretty good player really, no all-star but pretty good coming off the bench and can get 20 points sometimes and clog up the middle

So he wants to be an all-star in the NBA before he tries out the NFL. That means we will never see him in the NFL.

I doubt he will become an all star in the nba. And i doubt he will make it in the nfl now. However, he was a great fball player especially at DT in high school. If he tries the nfl, he needs to gain about 45 pounds of muscle and go for DT. He is too slow to be a DE in the nfl.

He has to have the mentality that he will be an all star. All players should, and if they don't they really have no business being in the league.
Do I believe it? No. He is a good player that can give a great team good minutes off the bench as he currently does, and he could respectably start for a lot of average to bad teams.
