SAN ANTONIO(AP) —Tim Duncan(notes) had 24 points and 12 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs halted the Milwaukee Bucks’ three-game winning streak with a 112-98 victory Monday night.
Matt Bonner(notes) had 23 points off the bench and the Spurs won consecutive games for only the second time this season. They also finally took advantage of a big night from Duncan, having previously been 0-4 when the All-Star scored 20 or more.
Ersan Illyasova led Milwaukee with 20 points. Brandon Jennings(notes) scored 12, held well below his rookie-leading average of 25.3 points per game.
Michael Redd(notes) scored four points in his first action in nine games. The former All-Star strained a tendon in his left knee when he went up for a dunk during Milwaukee’s first game of the season.
Grizzlies 116, Kings 105=
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Rudy Gay(notes) scored 24 points, O.J. Mayo(notes) added 20 and the Grizzlies beat Sacramento, sending the Kings to their fourth straight loss.
Marc Gasol(notes) finished with 18 points and four blocks for Memphis, which won for the fourth time in the last five games. Zach Randolph(notes) had 16 and Mike Conley(notes) added 11 points and seven assists.
Rookie Tyreke Evans(notes) led the Kings with 28 points, connecting on 10-of-18 from the field, and Sergio Rodriguez(notes) had 16 points and seven assists. Omri Casspi(notes), the rookie from Israel, scored 15 and Donte Greene(notes) had 11.
Memphis led from start to finish, building the advantage to as many as 21.
Clippers 91, Timberwolves 87=
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Al Thornton(notes) scored 31 points and Baron Davis(notes) made a clinching layup with 8.5 seconds remaining after missing his first nine shots to extend the Timberwolves’ losing streak to 13 games.
Davis’ streak of 468 consecutive regular-season games with at least one field goal was in jeopardy until he drove the lane for a layup after dribbling the ball for at least 10 seconds. He finished with two points and six assists in 23 minutes.
The last time the 11-year veteran point guard failed to make a field goal was Feb. 25, 2002 - against the Timberwolves - when he played 12 minutes for the Charlotte Hornets and missed both shots before leaving after one quarter with a bruised chest.
Trail Blazers 122, Bulls 98=
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Greg Oden(notes) tied a career high with 24 points and LaMarcus Aldridge(notes) also had 24.
Oden, the first pick of the 2007 NBA draft, missed one of his eight shots from the field and added 12 rebounds. Aldridge pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Blazers had five players score in double figures. Brandon Roy(notes) had 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Andre Miller(notes) scored 16 and Rudy Fernandez(notes) 13.
Luol Deng(notes) scored 25 points and John Salmons(notes) added 22 for the Bulls.
Portland’s 122 points was a season high and the Trail Blazers outrebounded the Bulls 47-27.
