Pistons’ Prince out indefinitely with disc rupture

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP)—The Pistons say forward Tayshaun Prince(notes) will be out of the lineup indefinitely due to a small rupture of a disc in his lower back.

The team said Saturday that the injury was confirmed following an MRI exam and evaluation by team doctors this week. The Pistons say Prince will continue to receive treatment for the injury.

Prince had been sidelined since earlier this month with a back injury.

The 6-foot-9 Prince has appeared in three games this season averaging 12.3 points, 5 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

    TAYSHAUN PRINCE(for those of you that can't spell) and Rip Hamilton are huge parts of this teams chemistry, and without them we have a huge problem. Rodney Stuckey is not a ball hog, he's a shoot first point guard, very similar to Chauncey and he worked out well, didnt he? I do think he takes about three or four too many jump shots, but what are we, professional critics of basketball? Tay Tay was the Iron Man, so if he needs to miss some games, i think he's more than due, and the things Rip does on the court, he deserves time to heal too. Some of you people are so insensitive, and I REALLY don't think Tay would be the one traded this season, if anyone gets traded this season it'll be Rip, Tay's got less mileage and he doesn't have a strong back up to take his place just yet, although Daye and Jerebko are looking good, they are not Tayshaun Prince and the Pistons are going to keep him around so he can walk the rookies down the right road. Thats how Detroit does things, Stuck played back up to Chaunce almost two season before he got the start job. Detroit will be fine, remember, this is still a somewhat building season...they going to be aiight.

    Whats up with Rip. BooHoo, poor baby has a sprained ankle. He sure is milking it. I remember Tay having a sprained ankle. They taped it and he came back into the game and continued playing.

    I sure hope Tay gets well soon. He is a classy , quiet guy who does a good job. The problem with our Pistons is not Tay. I pray he returns soon and contributes as he always has. You haters need to get a handle on your perception and realize that not everybody is Lebron or Dwayne. I agree with the guy that said most NBA teams would love to have Tayshawn on their team and I am glad to have him on mine.
