Lakers’ Gasol, Bynum sit vs. Grizzlies

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Lakers big men Andrew Bynum(notes) and Pau Gasol(notes) are sitting out Los Angeles’ meeting with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Bynum has a strained right elbow after getting injured late in a victory at Houston on Wednesday, though he doesn’t think it’s serious. The Lakers’ starting center is averaging 20 points and 10.6 rebounds in a strong start to his season.

Gasol hasn’t played for the Lakers since straining his right hamstring in the preseason, although he holds out hope of playing Sunday against New Orleans. Lamar Odom(notes) has taken Gasol’s starting spot in the defending champions’ first six games.

Gasol missed the chance to play against his former team—as well as his brother, Marc, who started at center for the Grizzlies.

Its one of the smartest tricks in the book. While all the other big men in the leauge are playing everyday on the old knees we see in back to back games, the lakers have the bench and talent to cruise control some teams. Kobe can hammer the Grizzles and the Hornets by himself. Let him show off his MVP skills. Set him loose on some teams. It would be a joy to watch. lmao. in San Antonio.

I wonder how the Lakers will play with the whole team fully fueled. Pau cumming back, Bynum cumming back, and Ron getting comfortable... heeew!
With Kobe putting up 40+ points? Man...

Bynum is so freaking soft it's pathetic, this guy will never see an entire year in the NBA without an injury and for some reason the Lakers think he is the next Karim or Wilt....no way could this marshmellow even carry their jock straps

The Lakers are only being careful for the curse of Memphis. Each time Bynum plays the Grizzlies, he goes out for at least 30 or so games. Can't blame them for letting him sit out this meaningless game..though.
