Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Highlights from Wednesday night's NBA action ...

My No. 1 play: Jameer Nelson's(notes) deliberate off-the-backboard alley-oop pass to Dwight Howard(notes). Why? Because that pass is the future. To quote my main man Shoals: "If you accept the alley-oop as more like the pick-and-roll than the windmill, all sorts of perceptual doors begin to loosen. Remember McGrady's off-the-backboard self-oop? Why not use the backboard as a second floor, thus adding another (fourth?) dimension to the game. It sounds fancy and frivolous, but again, we're talking set plays ..." Believe that.

I've been saying that players should be using the backboard for years, why has no one figured it out yet???

STFU with your future sex Magic "believe that" pass from Jameer. Point guards have been chucking up floaters to the tallest player on the floor for years. I've seen plays like this with Shaq for over a decade. You could almost say he invented it because players would pass to Shaq and instead of coming down with it, he just dunks it. When you have a behemoth on the floor you are afforded that luxury. Jameer only used the backboard because of the hand in his face. I actually saw that as a bad shot that Jameer knew Howard would clean up.
