TBJ Ep. 459: Try the veal

Monday to Friday, The Basketball Jones look at the big games and story lines from the night before with a mix of in-depth analysis and irreverent humor. As always, questions and comments are appreciated.

On today's show, Skeets and Tas face their toughest challenge yet — getting Stan Van Gundy to smile. They also mourn the lack of defense between the Cats and Nets, applaud the gritty Rockets, and tell Hornets fans to start worrying. All that, plus Skeets advocates sports bigamy and Tas calls out Allen Iverson(notes).

Remember to tip your waitress. They'll be here all week.

Who are these dudes? Recession NBA news? Two 'dudes' in a room with a camcorder? This is worse than Youtube.

nuggets definitely my 2nd team. raptors are just a little inconsistent so I gotta go from euro puss ball to all pretend thug nugget basketball. bright flashy uniforms, lots of wins, birdman, lets go.

So Tas, how can a team that is 2-2, the Bobcats, be the worst team in the NBA? I don't care if they beat two bad teams, and aren't scoring well, they are still 2-2, which is better than half the league. Plus, they have a great defense, and a star in Gerald Wallace.

Favorite team is still the raptors but 2nd favorite team is the golden state warriors. Once Nelson stops taking his shots of tequila before the game and planning a retirement plan with his BFF Larry riley, he'll see the light of day and play his talented players more(morrow and randolph) and sit his [profane] one (maggette). I don't understand the notion for cheering for a good team as your 2nd favorite because it ruins any excitement and gratification if your favorite wins as your expectations are tampered by your other "good" team. I say stick with your team through thick and thin and reap the rewards when good times roll around.
On a side note I too watched that charlotte and new jersey game and honestly it was the worst performance by 2 professional teams i have ever saw. I was sad to see Yi go down more than anything happening on the court. If Michael Jordan can't instill any life into that franchise in regards to putting butts in the seats, the city does not deserve a basketball franchise.
Anyways, you guys have a great show going on and will tune in everyday to hear what the jones gotta say about the daily happenings in the NBA. O and that is a sweet condo you got there. One day I dream to have one just like that. Keep it up!

Bobcats won against New York Knicks and New Jersey hardly earth shaking opposition. To me and alot of other people they are a fringe playoff team and will not go anywhere with Michael Jordan having say in key basketball decisions. He's terrible when judging talent coming out of college. Gerald wallace is good but is playing for a contract so it makes him seem better than he is. Case in point: 0 assists in 4 games. It's definitely the "ME" game with him.

I'm a bonafied die hard nuggets fan, but ill admit I have always watched every Knick game possible. Their a local team so their games are always on. I guess u can say that when they're not playing the nuggets, im counting on them to win. I would nvr consider myself a knick fan, but I guess theyve been a "second favorite team" for many years.

Queens of the Stone Age, A Tribe Called Quest, and a long..drawn out boobage shot = quality.
My second team is the Knicks unfortunately, gotta support the home state team...I guess. Looking forward to what they can get in the upcoming super summer free agent bonanza.
Also I tip my waitress/waiter closer to 20% if they do a great job.
@#5 - TBJ has been around awhile and are very entertaining, if you think they are worse than YouTube, you haven't been to YouTube recently...

Yeah, I realize that they beat 2 poor teams by not that much, but what I mean is that I don't think there is any way they are the worst team in the league, or even close to it for that matter. Regardless of who they beat, they are 2-2, and if you want to start talking about the teams they played, the 2 losses are against Boston and Cleveland, both in their buildings. So it's completely even in my mind. I think they still are one of those teams, like you said, that could make the playoffs.
As for Gerald Wallace having no assists, I don't know if you have seen the games, but he has created PLENTY of opportunities for assists, but if you haven't noticed, none of the Bobcats seem able to hit a shot right now. He has made great plays in every game to get people open and get them the ball, but they haven't knocked down any of the shots he's given them. Great example here, against the Cavs, Wallace made a great play and drew another defender over, then passed the ball backwards over his read, right to Tyson Chandler's chest while he was standing completely unguarded under the rim, and he fumbled the ball and then got blocked. That's just the way it's going right now.

The Griz have a playoff team withOUT A.I. He needs to shut his mouth, or be prepared to start hanging out with Marbury and Steve Francis.

Seriously you guys are the most negative basketball commentators I've ever heard, in pre season I was going to jump off the Bobcats Bandwagon, I mean they traded Okafor (whose jersey I own) and they certainly didn't look like they were going anywhere, also I was liking the wizards chances and i've always been an Agent 0 fan so it seemed logical.
BUT after hearing you guys drone on for the last 3 episodes about how much the Bobcats suck in your eyes, I mean no comment about how LB teams always play staunch defense no compliment at all and they won and they're at .500 yet apparently the worst team in the league so bugger it I hope they make the playoffs to spite you guys!
