Ball Don't Lie - NBA

This is bloody brilliant.

(Yes, that was vampire joke.)

In an effort to bring peace between San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili(notes), the southern U.S. bat population and, presumably, those crazy kooks at PETA, one creative San Antonio-based brewery is offering free beer for the people.

Yep, you heard me, free beer!

The Freetail Brewing Company says every time the Spurs win a game, and no Mexican Free-tailed Bats are caught by that Ozzy Osbourne-wannabee pictured right, everyone at the brewery will receive a free pint of lager. In addition, the brewery will donate $1 on thepatron's behalf to Bat Conservation International.

Ginobili punked a bat that got loose inside the AT&T Center on Halloween night, delaying the Spurs' game against the Sacramento Kings. Once down for the count, Manu picked up the bat and handed it to an usher as the crowd gave him a standing ovation. Something tells me they won't be so kind with a free beer or two riding on the line.

(I can't believe the Utah Flash didn't think of this first.)

Cheers, WOAI and Dime.

digg delicious

no wonder they're fighting for ethical treatment of animals. with their brains, they can't be considered humans
sheesh, its not like Manu had a gattling gun and was shooting down bats left and right

So that's like 52 free beers (I'm assuming SA goes 54-28 this season. They've won twice already)? Wow..that's a ton of free beer to be giving out..

Or maybe the beer is crappier than Natural Light or Milwaukee's Best, in which case, it's not so bad at all.

The bat wasn't even killed. It was reported that it was released outside later. Those PETA people get crazier by the day. Stick to real animal rights organizations like ASPCA, not psychopaths like those in PETA. What a terrible organization.

PETA is nothing but a business scam! Just bunch of hypocrite, self righteous pretenders. Selective animal right advocate.

The Freetail Brewery is legit too. Good micro-brews. As a Dallas Mavericks fan living in San Antonio I might actually have a rooting interest in the Spurs now.

Even better promotion when yahoo gives them free advertising. Who goes to a bar and drinks one beer? It's like the JAck in the Crack and Chalupa promotions, they count on you ordering more once you are there.

    Ollie BoomBayay,
Samples and free items are designed to do just that. Sell, sell, sell. If you've ever been in a grocery store and had a free sample how many times do you add that sampled item to the car?. Free items usually generate business or have you coming back for more.

    Jesus some of you,
Everything has got to turn into the anti-government, conservative-leaning BS on the internet nowadays!! PETA has a right to [profane] because you have a right to [profane]. If you actually care about the first amendment, you'll support the right of interest groups to speak their minds. If you want to crap on lobbyists then be expected to be crapped on for your wrong opinion. Lobbyists serve a very important role in our system. If you don't like it, then move to a country where individuals (and yes, organized groups') rights to speech are oppressed.

Another worthless lame post by skeets. Why is this guy on the basketball blog? Put someone in this job that knows something about basketball, or at the very least, someone that has a sense of humor more advanced than a junior high student.
