Ball Don't Lie - NBA

And here I was thinking Ball Don't Lie was special ...

Like my good friends to the south (SLAM Online, FreeDarko, The Sporting News' Baseline), we, too, have been given the power to give away one free NBA League Pass Broadband account.

To win this semi-exclusive prize, all you have to do is remit your answer, in the comments section below or via Twitter, to the following compound question: What 2009-10 NBA regular season game can you absolutely, positively, undeniably not go without watching on LP ... and why?

The winner will be selected by an elite panel of BDL judges. Entrants will be judged on creativity, effectiveness (statement of objective) and writing style/quality. Begging will not be considered.

Good luck.

Nationally and locally televised games are subject to blackout and are therefore not available via NBA LEAGUE PASS BROADBAND (regardless of whether team is home or away). This contest is for US participants only. (Sorry, Tas.)

By entering the sweepstakes you agree to release Sponsor, the NBA Entities, Ball Don't Lie and their respective affiliates and agencies from any and all liabilities for injuries, damages or losses of any kind to in connection with the sweepstakes, prize or any prize-related activity.

Grizz at Knicks . . . Zo Bo revenge game. If I win this, I will pay for court side seats for this game for Big Country Reeves, Steph (don't put him in a box), and Isiah.

As a Cavs fan, we are blessed with a bevy of basketball games on national TV (25, the most in the NBA to be exact). As a dedicated fan, I have installed a SlingBox at my parents home in Cleveland while I crouch over my laptop in NYC watching all remaining 57 games on my blurry SlingPlayer. I'd really love the opportunity to watch LeBron and the Cavs vs. Durant and OKC on December 13th and January 23rd in pristine HD. I'm such an HD snob that I won't leave the 700's for anything, not even DJ AM's "Gone Too Far" on non-HD MTV. Thanks for the opportunity.

Lakers vs Cavs on Xmas day. Because one of those team will be the NBA champions this year! (sorry Boston) and I'm sure I'll be home on that day.

Feb 9, 2010 - OKC vs POR. Dude... durantula and BRoy! Getting closer to the playoffs and its exciting to watch these two young teams develop. This has playoff implications all over it! OKC for 7/8 seed! Did I mention that these are my new fav teams to watch and OKC isn't featured enough nationally?!?!?!?

I love the Houston Rockets, which is great, because I live in Houston. The Rockets haven't just been a team worth watching for the last few years; forgive for my bias, but this squad has easily been the most lovable operation in the league. It's won 22 through Yao's injury, got to the second round through Tracy's and took the mighty Lakers to 7 without both. I really couldn't ask for more (hmmmm.... maybe a single healthy star. Maybe that).
This year looks to be the most fun to watch at all. Morey puts together a team like Sandler puts together a poorly thought-out, mid-'90s comedy: mix together a bunch of ne'er-do-wells nobody believed in who all have one or more strangely irreplaceable talents and watch magic happen by the end. This is a team that doesn't only have my unconditional love, but somehow earned it.
BUT I CAN'T WATCH IT. I work from 3:30-9:30 CST, which usually covers the entirety of any Rockets game. Every single damn one not played on the West Coast. So while i may know a little more about Robin Lopez and Taylor Griffin's development four times a year, I'm not getting to watch my guys nightly, and it's killing me. Is Budinger this good? Can Chuck Hayes actually do a thing on offense that isn't just "fail"? I must know.
Also, I would like very much to get my Dwyer on and see every game, but mostly, please help me know my Rockets.

Arghhh... I forgot to post which game. It'll be the Rockets and Jazz in Houston (02/16/10), which I'll almost assuredly miss if I don't have the League Pass archive. Nothing gives me more pleasure than watching that team crushed, and after our first run-in with them this year, that seems a lot more plausible than it did 4 months ago.

Lakers vs. Heat - You have the 2 best shooting guards in the league (who actually guard each other) going head to head. It doesnt get much better than that. Kobe vs Wade. Wade vs Kobe. Can i get a Marv Albert yes for that? YES!!!!

Welp, for me I'm going with the NBA's version of the Average Joes (Caucasian Pacers) Vs. Globo Gym (Tattoo Nuggets), in a bout of Larry Bird's Dream Team vs. Larry Bird's Nightmare Team.
BTW if the Birdman, I plead the 5th Smith and KMart and lets throw in DeShawn Stevenson for good measure stopped getting tatoos, how many Ink companys would file chapter 7?

    January 15th...Milwaukee @ Golden State.
There is no other way to watch this other than driving cross country to Oakland, a daunting prospect given my work schedule. But if I don't make the drive or win the League Pass I will be missing Monta Ellis play for a trade, Anthony Randolph face evil Anthony Randolph (Hakim Warrick, natch) and Brandon Jennings sticking it to Stephen Curry to make sure that he wins the ROY award.
Plus SJax, Turiaf, Biedrins, Bogut's hair and Ilyasova's socks and much, much more.

January 8th 2010, Portland and LA Lakers in Rip City. LA has lost 8 straight in Portland n Kobe wants to end the streak badly. He wanted the blazers in the playoffs last year n this year he can end the losing streak. On the other hand, Blazer fans hate LA and the team doesnt like the lakers either. This is the rivalry game and being a Blazers fan in NJ, this is the game of the year.

Sadly, I come to you as a die hard New York Knicks fan living in New York City. In the past decade, we have suffered through an incompetent owner, a dellusional GM who thought Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry could be the Post-Robinson Twin Towers, a self driven and self absorbed point guard (turned great tragedy of the streaming video era), and few (note: VERY FEW) wins. As if this werent enough, this past offseason while looking for a point guard of the future, while trying to bring in pieces to attract free agents of 2010, we passed on Brandon Jennings (25ppg, 6apg) for good old Jordan Hill (4 DNP-CD). Now there have been worse situations in years past I'm sure, but lets not forget that on top of all of this misery, all of this pain, and all of this torture, we will also be forefitting a top 10 pick to the Utah Jazz. This situation stated, I need to watch good, pure basketball, where I can appreciate the game and its stars. Dec 11, 2009. Not the sexiest of games, but I write to you longing to see the Thunder and Durant take on Mayo and the Grizzlies. This is all I have. With the future bleak here in NY, let me become aquainted with Mayo, Durant, Westbrook, and Harden. So that I can continue to tell myself that even if they Knicks are miserable, the NBA is still a game to love.

Nuggets-Celtics: On the surface, you have a battle between two teams that have started the season undefeated, powered by their highly efficient offense and stingy defense, respectively. Unstoppable force, immovable object, blah blah blah.
But look a little closer, and start reading some of the names in the paint. Nene, Kendrick Perkins, KG, K-Mart, Sheed? Every viable player over 6'9" is even money to get tossed from this game. I smell a shoot-out, and I want to see it.

April 8 - Kings v. Clippers. I have Hawes, Martin, and B Diddy on my fantasy team and this game occurs during the home stretch of the fantasy season. There's no way that this game will be on any kind of national TV (or even make the highlights on Sportscenter). Plus it should have huge lottery implications.

Well, I think JacobM puts together a rather good case, being a Rockets fan and all, like me. The difference is... I LIVE IN CANADA. For the past 20 years I have been a Rockets fan, yet have very rarely ever seen them play. I can't even find a t-shirt, or any other Rockets paraphernalia unless I order it online.
The game I would like to specifically catch this year is Jan. 5, Houston @ LA Lakers. After last nights thrilling OT loss, I want to see the Rockets exact some revenge and knock out LA.
If I get the pass, I will don my vintage Olajuwon jersey and dance outside with my two kids, of course captured on video for Skeets to post here on BDL.

Considering I'm a Huge Miami Heat Fan even way back to the ZO and Grant days to now with our young guns D-wade and Beasley. The game that i would most like to see this season is Miami Heat vs.Charlotte Bobcats on March 20th. This game could be very competitive with both teams having a very young nucleus. DJ Augustin and Raymond Felton, and Gerald Wallace. This will most definitely be an exciting up and down game.

I absolutely want to watch the Clippers take on the Nuggets. That's right. Most would think the Nuggets would obviously destroy the sorry franchise that is the Clippers, but I am bullish on the Clippers chances of making the playoffs this season. Although the Clippers have lost to all playoffs teams up to this point, they were very competitive in most of those losses, and they are still missing their #1 prize, Griffin. Kaman will put Nene in his place, Camby and Martin will negate each other since neither are an integral part of the offense, Butler and Thornton will take turns getting destroyed by Melo, Gordon will score against whatever guard is thrown at him at will, and then you have an interesting match up between Davis and Billups. I predict it will be a very close game, and if both teams are playing with a full squad(including Griffin and Smith), this will turn out to be a highly entertaining game. I predict that the Clippers will win the thriller.
