Chris Paul ditches ankle boot

Good news, Hornets fans: Superstar point guard Chris Paul(notes) is no longer walking with the aid of a plastic boot on his injured right ankle. Word has it he also ditched Kuribo's Shoe after completing World 5.

Paul attended his team's shoot-around Saturday morning at the New Orleans Arena, and was seen wearing a tennis shoe or two at Saturday and Sunday night's games.

He severely sprained his ankle 10 days ago against the Blazers.

"I still don't know," Paul said of a timetable for his return, which has been left open-ended since the team announced results of an MRI exam that was performed on the ankle Nov. 14. "(Saturday) was my first day without the boot. As long as I'm walking, I'm good."

That said, Jimmy Smith of The Times-Picayune reports there is still a slight limp in CP3's gait, so Hornets fans are encouraged to mail in all the 1-Up Mushrooms and invincibility stars they can.

    I'd be reluctant to return if I was CP3, too.

    I think this was all planned.
    New Orleans knew CP3 would be pissed without Byron Scott and needed to see if the GM was doing his job. So NO makes the GM wear the coaching hat and forces him to use whatever talent he signed/traded for/drafted --minus CP3-- to see if he can muster any wins.
    Now that the team is winning, CP3 will come back and guide the Hornets to the 8th playoff seed. Thank you.

    CP3 is undoubtedly a great player. But he doesn't make his team better. Just because a player racks up many assists in one game, doesn't mean he is unselfish. If you watch CP3 play, he dribble the ball around for 20 seconds, dishes it, and 11 times a game a teammate will score, giving him an assist. Sure he has some great passes, and he has great vision. But the rest of the hornets are afraid to create for themselves with CP3 out on the floor. That's why the Hornets have been winning without him. With Darren Collison at the point, teammates know they have to step up, and they have more confidence.
    CP3 = overrated team player.

    to Jay P...
    you sir do not watch enough Hornets or CP3 basketball. Yes some assists are skewed towards him, BUT he does create andhe does make the best pass on every play.

    I gotta disagree with you Jay P. Chris Paul isn't overrated. He battles for his team every night. He's the person that brought them so much success in 2008-09. He's a team player and I think he'll be great for the team if his teammates continue to step up.

    Chris Paul is overrated? Doesn't make his team better? Is Chris Paul doesn't make his team better, I don't know who does.

    #7 Jay P - How many Hornets games have you watched? Collison has been awful, and deserves 0 credit for Hornets being competitive after CP3 injury. If you want give credit then talk about Marcus Thornton stepping it up and Peja actually showing up. In case you didn't notice the Hornets fired their coach the day before CP3 was injured. They have since changed their style to half court and it is working. I guess Byron Scott was too head strong to change styles.
    Hopefully CP3 is USA pg for a very long time because he is an awesome talent and team player.

    Paul is a crybaby. That much is certain. Whether he makes his team better or not? Obviously he does..... when he's not on the bench with a faking fit. He's looking for a trade; Toys R Us is right in his age group - send him there.

    My fantasy team needs CP3 back too! But healthy; don't need him getting injured again and again.
