This week: Earnhardt has not fared well at Homestead. His best finish in nine starts at the track is 13th, and that came back in 2000, his rookie season. He has five finishes of 21st or worse. "It just has been a bad track for me," said Earnhardt. "Hopefully we'll run a lot better this time around."
Last week: Earnhardt got loose while battling Marcos Ambrose for 12th place and spun out to trigger a nine-car accident. Earnhardt's car was severely damaged, and he spent more than 50 laps in the garage area while his crew did repairs. Earnhardt ended up 35th to drop to 24th in the standings. "Another long, long day," said Earnhardt.
Etc.: While the finishes certainly don't show it, Earnhardt said he "can see a lot of improvement in the team and I can see the impact that Lance (McGrew, the crew chief) is making. We just have to change our luck, which is a cheap excuse, but we have to change our opportunities and our mentality as a team, build our confidence in our ability to perform."
