NASCAR - Sports Rumors

“TerryIt's looking like semi-retired driver Terry Labonte is teaming up with former team owner Bill Savola to make a new racing team in NASCAR that will start its engines in 2010, according to Sports Business Daily. The team will be called StavolaLabonte Racing, naturally, and appear in the Sprint Cup Series, which the 52-year-old Labonte won way back in 1984 and 1996.

The hope is apparently to run eight to ten races next year, according to SceneDaily. "(Stavola) would be a good guy to be associated with," Labonte told SceneDaily. "We're kind of kicking around the idea. On the one hand, it's the perfect time to get in because you would be able to hire people today that you would not have had a chance two years ago. On the other side of the coin, I've never seen it so hard on the sponsorship side."

Is this another nonstory/ rumor by Mark Miller. Hell he can't even spell Stavola correctly. But if Stavola is coming back to NASCAR, just think of the success he had with Bobby Allison! Here's hoping!

would be able to compete, assuming they can get sponsor dollars. If Texas Terry starts the first 5 races they run, they automatically get in because of his former champions provisional, and can get a solid start in the points.
Then they can bring in younger driver to take over.

Will this be another start & Park team? Soon, more than half of the teams will be start & park, just to get a full field. Maybe all races that start at 1:00PM should only be 200 Laps and the races that start after 1:00PM should only be 100 laps. That would surely help the team owners save money and the track owners would starve. Maybe than, they will go back to only racing east of the Mississippi river like it used to be.
