Danica Patrick and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. close to inking deal

IndyCar Racing League driver Danica Patrick is finally going to get a dose of NASCAR. She's apparently very close to signing a two-year deal with the team run by Dale Earnhardt, Jr.: JR Motorsports, according to ESPN.

The negotiations are supposedly "in the final phase" and it will mean that Patrick takes a NASCAR wheel for the first time when next February's Daytona 500 rolls around.

So she'll race full-time for Andretti Green Racing in IndyCar and part-time for JR in NASCAR. Both Earnhardt and Patrick have some sponsorship dollars from GoDaddy.com.

Sports Illustrated was reporting that Patrick was looking to snag $300,000 per race in NASCAR, no mater if it's Nationwide or Camping World Truck Series races. But it's not likely that she's getting that kind of dough.

She will never make in NASCAR! Look what she has done in Indy absoutly nothing. So what makes anybody think that she will be good in NASCAR except for bringing in money cause people think she looks good.

Yo vdubgti09058, You say she's done nothing at Indy? How about rookie of the year, led the 500 for 19 laps, won at Japan, finished 5th in the points standing this year. Where have you been, under some rock?

i'll watch now...i dont like watching them hillbillies ride around that track...it puts me to sleep...but i think shes purty...the drivers that never win or come anywhere near winning make a fortune...i could get in my car and drive around that track and avoid an incident and get rich.....it is a joke...but i will watch now cause i think she is purty.....hehehe

OK she has 1, count it 1 win and only 3 poles in 81 races which covers about 5 years. She she won rookie of the year I will give her that. Leading only 19 laps of the 500 isn't saying alot you have to lead the last one which counts. Her highest finish in the points only being 5th come on I could see if she was maybe 2nd or 3rd for a couple of years. She knows IRL is going down the drain so she is just trying to secure her future off her looks and thats it, because she knows sponsors will pay her cause she will draw in a big crowd.

You all need to get you heads out the sand, and see whats going on. Shes done what most women wouldn"t even try and I doubt any of you could keep up with her pushing a shopping cart against her. You must all have small mans complex bashing the woman makes ya feel better about yourself. Well I hope she does and I wish her good luck Its a tough sport and she has atleast the guts to get out there.

Shes not a big fan of being pushed out of the way or rubbing wheels.Wanna see her put in her place when she starts that whinning BS in NASCAR by balls to the walls drivers.They much dont care about pretty.Guess ticket prices will go up huh.Probaly NASCAR will cover her ass like a few other prima donna's because she will be a draw$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

She is so overrated. Ya she has won one race but it was on fuel mileage. She leading laps really doesnt mean anything unless you win. I dont think she should stay in IRL til she has accomplished everything she can like winning the 500 (God forbid) and a championship. Just because she won rookie of the year doesnt mean anything. The person she ran against for it probably sucked. Look at Joey Logano. It was pretty obvious at the beginning of the season that he would win Rookie of the Year. I am female and Im all or women drivers in Nascar but not her.

Danica can very well make it in NASCAR. She has performed quite well in IndyCar Series races and can very well possibly run amazingly in NASCAR. She wont be as good as Tony or Juan Pab. though

NASCAR will NOT let her go when they have to decide whether or not to let her drive. She's a gimmick and since sponsors are dropping out away from NASCAR and teams, sponsors will be lined up to get a piece of Patrick. Add on, she's not to bad looking.

How many here have ever been over 100 mph? Not many I bet, I have and it isn't easy to turn left for 500 miles so if she can do it, it would be nice and a job well done. All the haters up here need to think about how much work she had to do to get this far and be a bit more humble and less cridical because of her sex or any other reason.
She deserves to drive, so let her and if she can't handle the thunder the storm will flush her out.

Nascar is a sport as well as a business. Danica Patrick will be good for business - no doubt. We want to grow Nascar, it is better for all the fans. She is a good driver, not in the elite class, but most drivers don't start there. We will see how she does, IF she actually takes the wheel on a Nascar track. I agree with Happynutcase, if she can't handle the thunder...........

I think she'll adapt. Not in the first year, however. She's going to have to quit Indy and consentrate full-time on NASCAR. Driving cars around the track that have a weight difference of 2000lbs will keep her off balance in her first year. To the doubters: She has skill. Most of the clowns in Indy don't have the points and finishing positions that she's had over the last few years. Just because she hasn't nailed down wins doesn't mean she can't do it.
