This week: Truex will be seeking his fourth straight top-10 finish at Homestead. "I want to end this deal on a high note," said Truex, who will be moving to Michael Waltrip Racing in 2010. "We've been together (he and crew chief Kevin Manion) since 2003, and he's been there every step of the way for all of our success. I want our season to end on a high note, and I'm hopeful it will. Homestead has been a good track for us."
Last week: After winning his third pole of the year, Truex ran up front for most of the race as he finished fifth for his first top-five finish of the season and his first since August 2008 at Watkins Glen. "We've had a rough season," said Truex. "But today we didn't have any problems in the pits. Nothing fell off the car. The tires held air. You know, all that good stuff. We just had a good race. Nothing bad happened and we didn't have any bad luck and we had a good car."
Etc.: Truex, who is leaving the team after Homestead, said the top-five finish at Phoenix was "huge to me because those guys (on the 1 team) are just like brothers to me. We're just like family. I wanted it so bad all year. I've been trying all year. I think sometimes we try too hard, and that's what gets us in trouble and causes problems. It feels great."
