From the Marbles - NASCAR

Hey, guess who joins us today on The Chrome Horn? Two-time IRL champion Dario Franchitti! You remember, the guy who came over for a cup of coffee in NASCAR! Dude who's married to Ashley Judd! He's a good guy, and he put up with our nonsense, including our leadoff Farley-esque "You're awesome" question. He also spoke with us about the new sponsor for the IRL -- Izod! -- and about the differences between IRL and NASCAR. And yes, we did touch on the Danica question. But we made it quick and painless, like ripping off a Band-Aid. Don't worry, it's over in a hurry.

Loved that interview. It was very gracious of Dario to take the fifteen minutes to answer questions that I'm sure he's heard over and over again. One point that he made was concerning Danica and it influenced my thinking quite a bit. That was the fact that he doesn't think that going to NASCAR part time would give her the experience she needs to do good in the different style of racing. I still feel that she has the right to try, but I now have my doubts about her ability to be successful in NASCAR! Thank a lot Jay and Dario!

Great work - another repetitive interview, this time with an Indy diver - and the clock stopping moment gets 2 responses in 36-hours.... thrilling... perhaps next time, you can interview a Mc'D's drive-thru cashier, and ask questions concerning the genetic makeup of the bovine used by such as juggernaut of an eatery... I can't wait!

So Danica Patrick is a go for NASCAR. Yeah. Best thing for the sport and for the Earnhardt team in a long time!
There can't be anything bad about it - except the 'good old boy' self-righteous baloney we will no doubt hear. It's not ALL about money but hey, she does mean $ for all the 'old boys' so sit back and count me in.

Carol - I would have been over there yesterday, but I have to share the computer with a teenager I'm sure you know, or will know someday, how that goes! :)

What, Ollie, you're dribbling? I'm so sorry.
Rudy I didn't spend much time sharing a computer with my kids. Hubby learned how to build computers a long time ago, which is much cheaper than buying them, so everybody has their own. =)

Carol - That's way cool. Kaia and I had a computer that a friend built, actually for her, but it had a boot leg WXP in it and it kept asking me about it. It didn't have a large enough hard drive anyway, so when I bought this one, I got it with 130 gigs and room for an additional 130 gigs. Would be nice to have 2 computers, or at least a lap top to go with this one.

Dario, is really a class act I enjoyed his insights into both series and what he feels it takes to be competitive. Spend time learning how it's done. Spend time in the trucks and Nationwide and I believe it has to be a full time commitment. I'm afraid Danica's approach is going to be a recipe for failure.I hope not, it will just escalate all the bashing she get's here. It was good to hear Dario comment on how much she had improved, and her final standings right behind the top two teams is a testament to her driving ability. It's to bad it didn't work out for Dario in cup cars he would have been a great addition to the series.
