Grandma wants an MMA fight

Mixed martial arts really is for all ages. KEPR-TV in Pasco, Wash., found a 49-year-old mother of three and grandmother of four who wants an MMA fight. DeEtta Peterson has been training MMA for four years and narrowly missed out on her debut last week when her opponent had to back out.

According to her bio on Calhoon's Martial Arts, Peterson came to the gym in 2003, six years later she's an instructor and already has her brown belt in jiu-jitsu.

"Originally I brought my son and he was going up through the youth ranks," Peterson told KEPR.

When she tried it, Peterson says she's was hooked almost immediately.

"It's just one of those things that just intrigues you and draws you in and so I think by the fourth fight [in training], I was like 'I want to try that.'"

Peterson with veteran fighter Benji Radach

Travis Maiuri, a trainer at Calhoon's, says Peterson practices with men.

"A lot of guys that come in that are brand new are real scared and don't want to hit a girl or grapple with a girl until she starts working them over and then they want to step up their game."

Peterson is willing to fight women in their 20's if necessary.

"It's just one of those things I want to do. I want to get one fight and get my black belt."

She's hoping to land on an MMA card in Walla Walla, Wash., sometime in the next month.

Isn't 49 a little young to have grandkids? Especially four?

Allen, math must not have been your strong suit, if she was 20 when she had her kid, that would make a daughter 29, so, what is so bad about that? Crap, think about what you say before you write!

Wesley, that makes nothing bad about it.
My post was an answer to Black Steve-O's question posed about a 49 year old grandmother. I think I made that clear in the post.
    So before you start, don't.
And maybe you should take your own advise.

I am sure she is pining for you boys. Hopefully she reads this sees all the "attention" she is getting.

Not everyone waits until they are 30 to have kids. 49 year old grandmother doesnt sound crazy to me. That just means she had kids in her early 20. Nothing wrong with that. But whatever floats your boat.
I find it more sad when people think that going out drinking and partying all of their 20's is their highlight of their life.

I guess my point was that she had four grandkids and the youngest is probably six (pure conjecture on my part) so she was more likely an early to mid-40s grandma. Having kids in my early 20s or late teens is completely foreign to me. I was a genuine moron at that time and in no mental shape to raise kids. That same description can be applied to all of my friends. We all went to college, got degrees, seem to know what we're doing now, and all have kids. That's just me, some people just mature faster and are ready for that responsibility at a younger age.
Yes, back to GILF talk now.

First Kim Couture, then Lisa Marie Varon, now this. There's bound to be a shady promoter out there ready to form the first Milf Martial Arts organisation.

The reason they put the male fighters too shame LISA is because not only can they "not" fight, they really can't protect themselves either so they just sit there taking a pounding trying to hit back. They're idiots!! They look stupid sitting up there trying to punch each other in the face with neither having the strenght or means for a 1 punch knock out. Today's woman is the saddest specticle of women/ladies I've ever seen. They're hypocrites and disgusting. Sugar and spice??.... Nah.. more like rotten cabbage.

She is NOT a BBJ BROWN BELT, as the author claims is written in her bio. DeEtta is a Brown Sash, likely in Calhoon Submission Fighting System. Big difference, no disrespect to Calhoun. The author should know the difference.

so because some lady wants to fight that somehow affects the validity of the sport? whatever.....empty statement from empty minds if you ask me.
i say let her fight, it's not like she's gonna be on a ppv or anything right? it's not like strikeforce is going to sign her right? oh wait.......
