As much press as Brock Lesnar, the UFC's heavyweight champ, has gotten in the past week, it's the welterweight champ, Georges St. Pierre, who is on the path to be a househould name. He already is in his home country of Canada, where the above Gatorade commercial aired.

This ad cautions all comers from taking on GSP. Somewhere, Thiago Alves and his battered face nod in agreement, yet plenty of people want to take on GSP. Martin Kampmann and Mike Swick are fighting for that very privilege. The good news is that the groin injury that bothered GSP in his win over Alves doesn't need surgical repair, but he is still on medical suspension until a doctor clears him.

But if the winner of Swick/Kampmann fails to wrest the belt from GSP's waist, who is next? Who else should laugh at this ad, take a swig of Gatorade and then prepare to fight St. Pierre? In a perfect world, who would you have fight GSP next?

Allen...Were his after-party pictures really all that bad? So he went out and had some fun. He deserved it after what was probably a hellacious training camp.

Rob, I am not saying he didn't deserve it, but if they are going to put his face as the class act of the UFC (which I think he is in and out of the cage), then pictures like that can be damaging.
I understand all they go through to get ready for a fight. And I understand they have steam to blow off afterward.
But if you are going to get so drunk you cannot remember your own name, or be shown hanging out with suspect aged females, those things can hurt in the long run.
    That's all.
I am far from a GSP hater and respect his fighting style (and class) and for one, am glad to see him ranked #1 in the Yahoo MMA rankings.

    Jimmy is right.
Allen, you realise that Alves and GSP took poolside promo shots just before the fight that looked exactly like the afterparty.
Two of the UFC's major sponsors are Bud Light and Casadores....guess what they sell??

Typical frat boy mentality response by #6 and #7.
And GSP looked toasted in his pre-fight pictures?? Are you serious?
    I am far from conservative.
If you would read before posting, you might see what I actually said.
A drunk UFC champion in a pool with 3 very young looking females is usually the start to something that need not happen, especially if he is going to be the face of the sport. That's all I said.
But if drunk half naked men and young girls in a pool get you to kick your gong around, more power to you.

Those weren't frat boy responses at all. The fact of the matter is, the UFC is an operation that sells to adults. It's main sponsors are Harleys and alcohol. All GSP did was be in a crowded pool with some girls who looked about 21-25. You do realize GSP is in his mid 20s as well, right?
I am conservative, but choosing GSP to say things about is borderline retarded. He has displayed nothing but class, responsibility, and modesty since he's been a fighter. Not saying I look at GSP as a hero, but most of our (and Canada's) heroes were hardly teetotalers.
Find someone who deserves criticism and stop posting such nonsense.

Really #11, the UFC caters to adults?? That would be 18-32 year old males right?
No kidding, when did that happen?
And Harley Davidsons and alcohol advertisement is catered to adults too?? And they sponsor the UFC?? No Way!!!!
I guess as drunk as GSP was, Gatorade shouldn't have signed him (unless he re-hydrated himself the next day with it), Budweiser should have signed him.
The point I am trying to make is that if you are going to be a face for your sport, sooner or later pictures like those of the party will hurt you in the long run, especially when you have to spin the damages already done at UFC 100.
And didn't the UFC go through the same thing about a year or so ago with another drunken UFC star driving his truck through LA????
And yes I know GSP wasn't driving, but it is the public's portrayal of the image.
I am sure it was something that didn't receive much attention at first, but then it was posted on here for all to see.

Allen, Im at the point of saying that if someone is going to look at random set up pictures to judge the UFC and put them in a bad light then they probably wont be UFC fans ever. My guess is that most UFC fans dont care about the pictures. I mean look at other sports when other people like in the NFL or NBA who get busted for drunk driving. Nobody in their right mind is going to judge all of football or basketball as to being bad or negative. There have been plenty of Sports Starts that have gotten in trouble and it didnt affect the sport one way or the other.
It pretty much comes down to you either like the sport or you dont. If you dont like GSP for the pics then fine choose some other fighter to like. We have 3 groups of people. 1 people who like the sport. 2 People who dont like the sport. 3 people who dont have an opinion. Most likely the people who dont like the sport never will regardless of the pictures. and the people who dont have an opinion most likely are not going to make a decision on a sport because of sponsorship photos.
Please dont try to push ideas of people disliking a sport because of what one person chooses to do that really has no official outcome or consequence to the sport. We all can see plenty of examples of how your theory doesnt equate to real life or what is going to happen.
Pretty much what you are saying is that people are going to think that GSP likes having adult relations with young/underage intoxicated girls because of a sponsorship photo. If it were even true that is a attack on his moral character and not the sport.
    You sir have failed.

Allen GSP and thoose very young girls were at Rehab, Rehab is the Hard Rock Hotel gets turned into a Night Club Sundays starting at 11, you have to be 21 years old to get in, they check ID. This isnt a Matt Lienart epsiode of an Athlete showing up at someones party and partying with underage drinkers. All of the poeple at the part are 21. I know someone will say, well people can get into bars when there not 21, well thats the bars problem its not up to anyone on the inside of the bar to worry about how young someone may be, The girls did look young, but every year you go back into a bar, the girls will always look younger as you do get older, younger people are allowed into bars. So stop freaking out about a guy having fun at a bar, thats what your suppose to do. GSP is a role model in how he carries himself on the street, before a fight and after he wins. Everyone can give him a break and let him celebrate a bit.

    Gr8one....Brock Lesnar.
1 person. 1 set of actions in the national spotlight. And a whole lot of spin control because of it.
There goes the whole argument from your 1st two sentences.
And the funny thing is you mention the antics of a single player from team sports as more examples.
And it's funny because all the PED allegations in MLB do effect every individual in the sport that excels.
And he UFC is not a team sport.
But let me give you an example of one on one competitor sport, and where the light is shining brightly on 1 of it's down fallen stars.
    NASCAR and Jeremy Mayfield.
I am not a fan of either, but I read a lot.
And his failing a drug test is now hurting NASCAR in general.
With the frat boy mentality being painted as the typical MMA fan, people outside of the sport, or the ones not wanting to be lumped into the categorizations of labels, will object to it.
So try again to tell me how I failed at anything.

Allen...There's nothing questionable about the ages of those girls. I didn't think any of them looked a day under 21...and I don't think GSP is 30 yet. What's the big deal?
As far as the photos and blog doing "damage" in the media:
Have you seen any media stories about how those pictures are damaging to GSP's rep or the sport as a whole?
Even Maggie Hendricks's blog on the party said that GSP celebrated his win the way he's SUPPOSED to, and took the opportunity to take another jab at Lesnar as a CONTRAST to GSP's party.
Anybody who would be offended at the sight of an athlete having a good time with some drinks, some friends, and some girls at a Vegas hotel pool the day after a huge fight is not someone UFC wants as a customer.
...unless you're the CEO of a huge corporation looking for a new sports league to sponsor.

GSP is a stud. BUT HE WAS HURT IN THE 4th ROUND. NOT THIRD!
he claims he was hurt when he was on the bottom, a place he never was during the 3rd. plus he tells jackson about it right before the 5th.
this is gonna go down on the line "play it again, sam" from Casablanca.
(there's no such line in that movie).

Put Maggie's bog on the front page of Yahoo with those pictures and lets see what the response will be.
That always seems to jump the MMA blog responses to about 2000 when they do that.
I am guessing, about 70% will be I'd hit that responses. 20% will be Lesnar comparisons, and 10% will not give a chit.
And the funny thing is, do you guys really have nothing more to do today?
I make a smart ass comment about his pictures, after I made a complimentary posts, and all of a sudden all the thin skinned GSP defenders come crawling out.
    WOW.

Sean M: All the rounds of that fight blended together for me...I can see how they would have for GSP as well.
It was 25 minutes of takedowns and general domination. If you posted a description of the action in one of the rounds, I would have a really hard time telling you which round it was.
But yes...I think you're right that he got hurt in the 4th, not the 5th. It was before the 5th that Jackson told GSP to deliver the Atomic Teabag. "Hit him with your groin?!"

People booed Brock Lesner from the first time he entered the ring ever in UFC. Some like him some dont but I bet you nobody who is a true fan who was given the middlefinger was like "I am so offended I am never watching this again"
People still go to baseball games in NY and are still Yankee fans regardless of what A-rod did.
NASCAR fans still like their drivers and go to races.
If it were that big of a deal people would stop going, no one would become a fan ever again, and the sport would die. yet all of the mentioned sports are getting more popular and people still watch.
Team sport or not it does not matter. The SPORT is not getting hurt by any of this, they are getting publicity and ratings and internet search hits.
People outside of any mentioned sport dont matter. Its the fans that watch and buy merchandise that matter because they keep it going. I have plenty of friends that are not "Frat Boys" that like it just fine (there goes your labeling lump together theory). So what you are saying is that no two different types of people can like the same thing? Example: A "Frat Boy" cant enjoy watching Tiger Woods play like a upper class citizen can. People are going to pick and choose what they like and dont like. The people that dont like it are just picking one thing to make a fuss about to give them reason not to like it. They are being close minded. Why should the rest of the real fans be worried about them. They aren't going to shut it off, you wanna know why? Because it makes money and nothing illegal was done in that stupid picture.
Grow up, stop picking one stupid thing to make a fuss about, and ignore what other people say about it.
You sir did fail now accept it and move on.
