Dynamo tumbles out of CONCACAF Champions League

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP)—El Salvador’s Metapan prevented the Houston Dynamo from earning a spot in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League with a 3-2 victory over the MLS club Wednesday.

Metapan had lost all five previous group games, but Emerson Umana’s goal in the 55th minute lifted the hosts to the surprise win.

A victory for Houston would have put it into the last eight, but instead that spot went to Panama’s Arabe Unido, which lost 2-0 against Group A leaders Pachuca of Mexico.

Elias Montes gave Metapan a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute and Anel Canales made it 2-0 a few minutes later. Houston closed within 2-1 in the 28th on a score by Geof Cameron and equalized when Dominic Oduro scored in first-half stoppage time.

Are you serious? Kinnear is probably the best US coach in MLS. He continually gets more from mediocrity than anyone I've seen. Who cares about this"Champions League" Watch him win another MLS cup.....now that he can focus on it

What? C'mon guys, Dom coaches three US internationals, has never failed to lead us two the playoffs since he has been in Houston and.... has won us two championships?

Yes the team is a bit older but they have a playoff run left in them and I trust Dom will get us to the cup.

Dominic does it again - a poor lineup and with should be retired Wade Barrett, is a given that Dynamos will lose. Dominic lives in the past when it comes to Barrett and everyone except the coach seems to know it. And then ball control games have a deficit - it burns up the players. Dominic needs to amend his game plan with a mix of ball control and quick-counter from the defensive end. Too much passing works in favor of the opponent.

Dynamos need to organize from the back with quick counter strikes that lead to score. And then practice curving the ball in shots on goal, as well from corners and set plays.

that is sad. MLS needs to get some European coaches instead of the American ones they currently have.
