Pelfrey won his fifth straight start, Carlos Beltran drove in four runs and the surging New York Mets beat Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants 7-0 on Tuesday. The team with the majors' worst home record (17-28) is coming off two losses in three games to the Dodgers in a weekend series in downtown San Francisco. Monday was a travel day, and the Giants flew to New York and will begin a series against the Mets on Tuesday night.

It'll be the Giants' final series at Shea Stadium, which will be replaced by a new park in 2009.

During the homestand, manager Bruce Bochy spoke of being "in it," meaning having a chance in the weak NL West despite their poor record. If the Giants put up any kind of fight, they'll have to make a spirited comeback and win lots of games not just on the road but at home.
