The Colorado Rockies keep losing players and winning games. Matt Holliday homered and drove in four runs and Joe Koshansky hit his first major league homer as the injury-riddled Rockies won their season-best fifth straight, 12-6 over the Florida Marlins on Saturday night. Chris Iannetta and Brad Hawpe also connected for Colorado one night after the Rockies went deep six times.

The blasts returned to Coors Field long before the fireworks. In a throwback to the pre-humidor days, Colorado homered six times and beat the Florida Marlins 18-17 on Friday night after trailing by nine runs in the biggest comeback in Rockies history. Chris Iannetta singled home the winning run off Kevin Gregg in the ninth inning.

Todd Helton's bad back and Willy Taveras' pulled thigh muscle made both of them spectators at Coors Field long before the fireworks lit up the mountain skies Thursday night. Their replacements put on quite a show in their absence. Jeff Baker drove in four runs and Ryan Spilborghs hit a two-run single in the 11th inning to rally the Colorado Rockies past the Florida Marlins 6-5.

A rain delay was worth the wait for Alfredo Amezaga and the Florida Marlins. Amezaga hit a go-ahead, two-run home run in seventh inning when play resumed after a 1 1/2 -hour delay, and the Marlins beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 Wednesday. It was just the second home run of the season for Amezaga, who has 11 in 1,106 career at-bats.

Ronnie Belliard helped Collin Balester's big league debut go just about as well as it could. Belliard's grand slam helped Balester become the first Nationals starter to win his debut and Washington beat the Florida Marlins 9-6 Tuesday night. "When I first went out there warming up I was real nervous," Balester said.

The Florida Marlins' dugout had cleared and players were already huddled around the plate before Josh Willingham could even watch his game-winning home run sail. Willingham's winning homer in the 10th inning came after Hanley Ramirez's tying shot in the ninth forced extra innings, and the Marlins rallied to beat the Washington Nationals 6-5 on Monday night.

If the Florida Marlins could play everyone like they do the Arizona Diamondbacks, they might find themselves atop the NL East. Jorge Cantu hit a game-ending RBI single, Hanley Ramirez hit a tying home run and the Marlins came back to beat the Diamondbacks 4-3 on Sunday. Ramirez's 18th home run of the season made it 3-all in the ninth.

Brandon Webb slammed a water bottle into the trash can and paced the dugout yelling after he was taken out, showing the kind of emotion that's been missing from his recent outings. Webb returned to his All-Star form, Chris Young had three RBIs and the Arizona Diamondbacks finally beat the Florida Marlins, 6-2 on Saturday night.

Searching for a way to break another slump, the Florida Marlins again turned to their best option: The Arizona Diamondbacks. Ricky Nolasco pitched eight effective innings, and Cody Ross homered to lift the Marlins to a 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday night. Nolasco (8-4) struck out nine and gave up just one run and six hits for the Marlins to end a four-game losing streak.

Matt Garza couldn't sleep Thursday morning. Phone calls and text messages kept coming in from his former Fresno State teammates, who had just won the College World Series. The calls from back home kept waking him up, and he only got a couple hours sleep before his noon start. Now he'll be calling them.

Carl Crawford had two home runs before the Tampa Bay Rays really got started. Crawford's second homer of the game started a 10-run, 14-batter, 32-minute barrage in the fifth inning, and the Rays defeated the Florida Marlins 15-3 Wednesday night to stay within one game of Boston in the AL East. Crawford had a career-high five RBIs.

Joe Nelson missed by a couple of inches, and that was all the space the Tampa Bay Rays needed for yet another win. Dioner Navarro and Eric Hinske drew bases-loaded walks off Nelson in the eighth inning to give Tampa Bay the lead, Evan Longoria hit a two-run double in the ninth and the Rays beat the Florida Marlins 6-4 on Tuesday night to stay within one game of Boston in the AL East.
