The Washington Nationals are looking to make a big splash with a hitter, and their people are talking Mark Teixeira according to the Boston Globe.

The Nationals are in desperate need of someone to bring fans to the stadium.

Manny Ramírez doesn't appear to be a target, but a Nationals official said, "I wouldn't rule him out, either." .

I guess all teams will be interested???? Bora$ is a sneaky but smart leach. He will drive up the price any way he can. I guess that is why players retain him as their agent. Get him Cashman. No worries at first for 10 years.

Nats best prospect Marrero can only play 1st. Doesn't make sense, unless they plan on trading him.

Hi Dav, I wouldn't say Boras is smart...it is what it is! Supply and demand...Boras got all the top talents! No way the Nationals! I think Cashman let go of Giambi a little too soon unless they are confident that 1B is filled by a very capable player.

    Hey Joarby & Surf,
I may have used the wrong word in describing Bora$. Greedy is the correct word. Greed can drive people to go to any length to achieve what they may benefit from.
    Surf,
I don't know if you saw it but I read where Bora$ and ARod have patched things up. If true that could make a difference. Remember Bora$ is out for Bora$.

    Surf,
According to the article ARod felt he had been deceived by Bora$. There were no details. I just hope Texeria will be following the Yankee Tradition of first baseman. He could be there for 10 years if he takes care of himself and no devastating injuries.

It would cost Washington alot of dough to sign him. You would think that if they wanted to spend that kind of money they would invest it in young players who might one day have an impact on the team. No one player can make you a champion.

With posada unlikely to start many games at catcher, and with yankee brass wanting to make a serious run at texeira, they simply couldn't pick up giambi's option for next year. That doesn't necessarily mean he won't be a yankee next year. If tex goes elsewhere, he could resign with nyy. If that happens, it will be interesting to see whether he gets more or less than the option was originally worth.

Boras will follow the $$$. The most money...Yanks will pose a serious bid b/c they really need a first baseman w/ a big bat to follow Arod.

I know how the Nationals can make a splash. They should fill a bag with rocks, climb into the bag and jump into the Potomic.

Tex is smart if he comes to boston or stays in anaheim cause those teams have a much better shot of winning it all then the yankees.

Christian I would say have tex platoon with youk or plain and simple trade lowell which is an option but I don't want to see that happen or trade ortiz cause in my mind he is not the dangerous hitter he used to be and plus he doesn't have manny behind him.

    Chris,
I know many Red Sox fans if not most said good riddance to Manny but as good as Jason Bay is he is not a force in the Red Sox lineup that Manny was. Of course Manny was a Yankee killer while he played in Cleveland and Boston so I got to see a lot of it. I don't believe that you platoon a guy like Tex who will likely make somewhere in the $20 Million +/year. Trading David Ortiz may be tough since he is getting up there in age and is useless to a NL team since he is a DH. I've heard that Lowell may be cut though.
