the marlins suck. mlb should take thr team from and get a new owner someone who is willing to spend and put a good product on the field. they have a new stadium coming and still won't spend. i feel bad for the city of miami.
The Mets need to work a three way trade with the Marlins and Cubs. Castillo to the Cubs because Hendry loves him, Uggla to the Mets, and both teams sending prospects to the Marlins. This gives the Cubs speed a tthe top of the order, the Mets some pop in the bat from a position they don't normally get it from, and the Marlins front office / scouting group more prospects to build with towards another championship.
As a Marlins fan, thank God. This may be the dumbest player I have ever seen (base running plunders, not knowing when to cover a base, etc.). He is slow, has no range, and is an absysmal fielder. We refer to him as the "rally killer" because whenever he's up in the clutch, it's a K. If anyone offers a bag of peanuts and a large coke, let's make the deal.

Have you ever been to a Marlin game in Miami?
The stadium they have for the Marlins is not a baseball stadium. It is a football stadium which the Marlins have to share with the Miami Dolphins and Hurricanes.
On top of that the stadium is in a ghetto. But, unlike most stadiums that are in ghettos this one does not have a subway, metrorail or monorail to get to it. Every time I have been to a Marlin game I have wanted get in and out because I know where I am.
And it wont change the new stadium the city of Miami is building for the Marlins is in an even worst ghetto.
So, needless to say no matter where the Marlins play it is hell to get there. It is far, crappy and dangerous.
I know that the new stadium won't make a difference for the Marlins unless the franchise actually keep some of their talent. Think of all the big names the Marlins have developed, but let go do to money. Beckett, Burnet, M. Cabrera, Lowell, Renteria, Povano, Willis, Sheffield, D. Lee ...
So, whenever the Marlins actually win they disassemble the whole team because they can not afford the players. Yet, the Marlins franchise are a young franchise with two World Series trophies.
Here is what is going to happen. The first year of the new Marlin stadium is going to bring in some revenue. After that depending on how the team plays will determine whether people actually go to the games. Unless the Marlins sign some talent, that won't happen.

Not to be a jerk or anything but #8 the word is blunders. Plunder is what Pirates get when they raid a ship. Just not Pittsburgh Pirates, they get plundered by other teams in every trade they make.

To #5 Kathy F and #9 FC Champion: Although FC brought out some facts that should be known about the Marlins, he over looked the most glaring weakness of the Florida Marlins franchise. The Marlins will NEVER be a large market team. They are located in a tourist vacation spot but they play at the wrong time of the year. Even with a retractable roof, they won't draw alot of fans. It is also the only stadium that I've been to that has more fans rooting for the visiting team than the home team because of the fans rooting for their long adored teams they grew up with before relocating and retiring to south Florida.
only two teams have won the world series more than once in the past 15 years-the yanks, of course, and the Marlins. to say they continually put out a bad product is not the case at all. plenty of fans out there have not even sniffed the world series in a long, long time.(if ever) they do have a great young nucleus of starting pitching and a few everyday players as well. i think they are contenders and this move could really bolster their lineup if they get good return.

Once again the Marlins ownership is hell bent on destroying their team and dumping their best players. Year after year they do this. What is the sense in spending millions on a new stadium if no one will show up? Spend the money on keeping good players and then build the stadium!

#15 Tony: Does Boston not belong on your list for some reason? As far as I am aware 2004 and 2007 are in the past 15 years. Please do not put out false information there are some people who might really believe you.

Tony...you should check things before you post them, the Red Sox won in 2004 and 2007. There are only 2 teams that have won more than once in the last 10 years and the Marlins are not 1 of them, that would be the Yankees and the Red Sox. Going back to the 15 years also gets you the Marlins for having won twice.
FC... just for consistency's sake... Gary Sheffield was not 'developed' in the Marlin's system... he hit the majors with the Milwaukee Brewers in '88... when they were still an American League team.... the Marlins didn't exist until...what, 1993? Otherwise, fully on point...

philphan... only problem with that trade (which, I'm sure you don't care about as a phillies fan), Uggla is like Roberto Duran out there... hands of stone... the Mets are, at this point, 'defensively challenged' on that side of the field... they surely don't need a second baseman with no range... they'd have to employ the shift on every lefty out there! Also... they sure don't need another numbskull who can't run the bases...
