MLB wants McCourts out of Dodgers ownership?
Los Angeles Dodgers owners Frank and Jamie McCourt are in the middle of a very public, very nasty divorce that features a supposed affair with a bodyguard/driver by Jamie, Frank firing his wife from her job as team CEO, a slew of houses, and a battle over ownership of the team.
Rumor has it that Major League Baseball execs would like the McCourts to get out of the ownership business (or at least stop leaking salacious details about each other until after a stellar World Series finishes up). Of course a sale of this team isn't coming anytime soon.
There is suspicion that the league didn't like the way the owners handled the Manny Ramirez(notes) performance-enhancing suspension, either, as the McCourts never required Ramirez to acknowledge his mistake and continued to provide Ramirez with personal bating practice and drivers, etc. It looked like Ramirez was on vacation instead of serving a 50-game suspension.

Now if baseball would allow teams to void a contract of a player that's caught using PEDs, then you could have a beef, but the Dodgers were still on the hook for a TON of money with Manny. You have to make sure he's happy (especially when it's Manny and you never know what he'll do) and make sure he's in hitting shape upon his return.

Should he exercise his option do The Dodgers have to accept?

What a joke.
The 'League' closed their eyes to performance enhancing drugs.
The 'League' has squeezed extra money out of the season by extending the season into November.
The 'League' is in no position to judge.
By the way I am a Giant fan....not a Dodger fan.

Unfortunately, yes, the Dodgers do have to accept if Manny exercises his option because Scott Bor@ss inked the contract to where this second year is a player option only. I'm a Dodgers fan...a BIG Dodgers fan...and I may be in the minority here, but I want Manny to get the f* out of LA. Not that I'm happy - or even content - with Pierre manning left field on a daily basis, but he at least gives a sh*t about his team and what he can do to help out in every way possible. Manny, simply put, is a distraction, a lazy (and that's putting it nicely) defensive player, and belongs with a power house like the Yankees or Red Sox as a DH ONLY! He does NOT belong in left field ... I can't even count the number of times that fool jogged toward a (catchable) flyball heading foul or out of fair territory.
But realistically speaking, unless Borass is convinced he can work his voodoo magic and convince some ignorant GM to ink Manny to a 2 year - $30MM deal after turning down $20MM for this final contract year, Manny's not going anywhere.

Sell the team to Mark Cuban! He'll spend money to keep them winning and hang out with the rowdy fans in the bleachers.
I LOVE this idea!
