Eric Chavez(notes) has played for the Oakland Athletics since his major league debut in 1998. He's had a lot of injuries in the last four years, and only appeared in 33 contests last season.
Now the free agent is looking for a new home. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that a scout who works for another NL team said "the Dodgers were raving" about his tryout in Los Angeles on Thursday. Chavez reportedly swung the bat well and apparently looked healthy after being put through his paces.
The Chronicle reports that the 33-year-old is getting some "pretty strong interest" from another club, but that Chavez is also "really excited about the Dodgers."
