Bob Dutton, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Royals have placed 3B Alex Gordon (quadriceps) on the 15-day disabled list with a torn right quadriceps muscle.

Royals manager Trey Hillman said Gordon is expected to miss a few weeks after tearing a muscle in his right leg, according to the team's official Web site. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.
Advice: "He's got a tear in the upper right side of his leg, the groin region," Hillman said. "It's actually a deep hip flexor muscle. We're just getting the results back." The third baseman is batting .254 with 14 homers and 51 RBIs this season, but had hit just .226 (7-for-31) with a homer and two RBIs over his last 10 contests. Gordon's move to the DL marks the fourth Royals player to be sidelined by an injury in as many days.

Gordon (right leg) is headed for the disabled list, the Royals' official site reports.
Recommendation: Gordon left Thursday's game at the top of the fifth inning with tightness in his quad. Now that tightness appears to be a torn muscle. He should miss several weeks.
