RHP Brandon Webb needed about an hour to regain the major league lead in victories, holding Houston to four hits and two runs over eight innings to improve to 18-4 an hour or so after Cleveland LHP Cliff Lee won his 17th. Webb needed only 84 pitches while breaking four bats with a sinker that "at certain points was the best sinker we've seen all year," manager Bob Melvin said.

Webb struck out six in eight sharp innings, leading the visiting Diamondbacks to a 12-2 victory over Houston on Friday night.
Advice: Webb, who leads the majors with 18 victories, allowed four hits and retired 16 Astros on groundouts to improve to 7-0 with a 2.28 ERA over his last 10 starts. The right-hander, who has also won five straight decisions, is 18-4 with a 2.85 ERA in 26 starts this season.

Webb notched his major league-leading 18th win of the season in Friday night's 12-2 pasting of the Astros. He allowed just two runs on four hits in eight innings of work. Webb walked just one batter and struck out six. In the process he also snapped Houston's eight-game winning streak.
Recommendation: Webb may have to clear his mantle for a Cy Young award. He has won his last seven decision and five straight starts. Webb is 18-4 with a 2.85 ERA. He also has a nice K:BB ratio of 145:42. He has only allowed more than four earned runs in two of his 26 starts in 2008.
