OF Eric Byrnes (left hamstring) was encouraged by results of his MRI exam Tuesday but understands that he will not return this season. "I can't look at this year," Byrnes said. "The bottom line is I'll be here the next couple of years. Those are very important for me and for the team. I have to make sure I come to spring training 100 percent. I have to be cautious and not jeopardize the next couple of years." Byrnes is in the first year of a three-year, $30 million deal this season. He said he likely will play in the Instructional League to get some at-bats after getting only 206 this season while playing with a hamstring injury he suffered at the start of spring training. |
