Michael Silverman, of the Boston Herald, reports Boston Red Sox SP Tim Wakefield will be available out of the bullpen in long relief if SP Daisuke Matsuzaka runs into trouble in Game 2 of the ALDS Friday, Oct. 3.

Wakefield allowed two hits in five scoreless innings in Boston's 4-3, 10-inning win over the Yankees on Sunday.
Advice: Wakefield, who is not scheduled to start against the Angels in the ALDS, finished the year 10-11 with a 4.13 ERA.
