Matsui bat, Damon spikes headed to Hall of Fame

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP)—Hideki Matsui’s(notes) bat and Johnny Damon’s(notes) spikes are among the items from the Yankees’ World Series title going to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Nearly a dozen pieces were donated after New York won Wednesday night and will be displayed as part of an exhibit on baseball’s postseason history.

They include the bat Matsui used to drive in a record-tying six runs in Game 6 and the spikes Damon wore when he stole two bases on one pitch in Game 4.

Other items include the cap worn by Phillies pitcher Cliff Lee(notes) during his dominant postseason and the No. 46 jersey worn by Andy Pettitte(notes) during Game 6 of the ALCS, when he set a record with 16 postseason victories.

Bitter much Charlenerene? Well if I looked like you did I would be extremely bitter as well.
As for #45 Hideki IS Matsui genious.
Buttonholer, The HOF Has memeroblia from every World Series.
#48 Jason news flash sunshine. They're not ALLEGED they are ADMITTED. And A-Rod was juicing in 03 BEFORE he came to the Yankees. Pettite used HGH while recovering from an injury. I won't get into Clemens since I was never a fan of his anyway. As far as Sammy goes not ONLY did he juice he corked his bat too. Guess he had to double cheat to get on top huh? Anyway, all your anti Yankee drivel won't change the fact that the Yankees won the series and your sorry @$$ Cubs didn't even make it to the Play Offs.
And to quote Jill... Do it again in two thousand and ten!!!do it again in two thousand and ten!!!

YES! Yanks should re-sign Matsui and Damon for another 3 years! Pettite..... well he's one of the core four! This team, as is, has staying power......up and down....

Great season guys! One of the most memorable!

Many childish and idiotic posts here, but also some classy posts like the one from the Red Sox fan.
Way to go. These players are out there to win. Once it is said and done, either offer congrats or offer nothing. The 'sour grapes' and insults mean absolutely nothing! Why waste your time,, and ours!
The abusive 'hate' posts are usually from cowards and/or morons anyway so they should go and post on Spike or Jackass sites..... where this kind of crap belongs!

Way to go YANKS! Well done!

    Way to go fans... everywhere!

    An open question to ALL

Are Damon and Matsui Brothers or related in any way?? They both have insufferably big heads
    and always appear moronic.

Post 45 u dont have to worry about the yankees signing swisher or burnett because burnett's contract has a few more years and swisher is signed through 2011 so i think your statement of they will not be signed by the yankees are a little off and damon will be resigned by the yankees too the only one there debating about is matsui who probably isnt coming back but nice try on making fun of them

I cant believe this. A-rod and pettite were NOT on roids during this series, or for a long time!. Whats the beef? As a true Yankee fan I will tell you that not only the current players made me one. Also the mystique, the history, the "Babe", Mantle, Berra, and all others before them. It is the winning spirit, the team effort, and especially the attitude towards their apponents like the Phillies. They had nothing but praise for Philadelphia.
I saw just about every interview and I know this is a fact! "Who's your daddy"? where did that come from? Huh? Both Phil. and Boston have great past players and history too. The Yankees beat fair and square another great team. It was an enjoyable series to watch-win or lose. The bat, cleats and lee's hat to the hall? YES! because they all represent great feats of play. Congratulations to the Yankees for a splendid series win. Congrats to the Phillies for keeping it close and enjoyable..Two great teams, high network ratings, excitement, and two great series teams. One had to win-one had to lose..End of post..

What pisses me off is how easily Congress and Major League Baseball seem willing to just let the entire steroid thing go. It doesn't matter if it was wrong, or illegal, they didn't have a policy against it in baseball so who cares. Then you have people who admitted to it that are now heros like Pettitte, A-Rod, etc. If I were the Commissioner I would have given them a one-time opportunity to all come forward and admit their steroid usage. In return they wouldn't be banned for life, but any statistics from a year they used steroids would be stricken from their career totals. If they didn't come forward and were later found to have used them I would ban them for life. And, another thing, I am tired of all this technicality bull with that report. Nothing worse than a criminal feeling they are "owed" a free ride just because their guilt was established by a manner that wasn't by the book. It is one thing to be innocent. It is another thing to get away with murder and think it is funny.

jason #48 ur a moron. im not a yankee fan and i wasnt surprised a-roid was caught but there is no reason to believe derek jeter is taking steroids. theres nothing to suggest he does. hes just a good fielder and a hitter, ur just too stupid to see that

a team filled with aledged steroid users, a rod-andy petite and roger clemens and i bet derek jeter shot them all up, winning the world series imagine that, ok rogers no longer there but he certainly influenced them all way to go yankees. the cubs only had one(sammy sosa and that angers me tremendously) and still can't get a ring. i guess derek lee and aramis ramirez better talk to sammy lol
