Girardi stops to aid motorist after bagging Series
EASTCHESTER, N.Y. (AP)—Yankees manager Joe Girardi capped off a victorious evening by helping a car crash victim in suburban New York.
Police said Girardi pulled over to help after a woman lost control on a Westchester County parkway and crashed into a wall around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
That was just hours after Girardi’s team claimed a World Series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Girardi told WFAN-AM that he was “really concerned” because of damage to her car. He said he had his wife call 911, then approached the mangled vehicle.
The woman had only cuts and Girardi talked to her until the police arrived minutes later.
“She had no idea who I was,” Girardi said. “I think the important thing is, you know, obviously there’s a lot of joy in what we do, but we can’t forget to be human beings where we help others out. I think that’s the most important thing we can do in life.”
Officer Kathleen Cristiano says that seeing Girardi at the accident scene later “was totally surreal.”

hey steve (157), you obviously have never lived in NY, or else you might know what you are talking about beyond such superficial, on the surface, and obvious observations.
it was simply reported that joe g did a nice thing as it was related on the heels of a major sporting event. no different than if jerry jones or whoever had stopped and helped a motorist after the cowboys had played in a super bowl.
only an @#$% would take an innocuous human interest story like this this and spin it into a "we vs ny thing."
but that said, yeah, nyc does have the best looking women, the best cuisine, and many of the sharpest minds and most talented athletes, so i could see why you would be jealous and use the "garbage" and "rats" as easy points of reference as any jealous, idiotic simpleton would.
Have you been anywhere else? The best looking women? The only good looking women here are the women VISITING here. The rest are fat taco's. He said Cuisine... oh my God he said cuisine... rat never tasted so good. If you come to NY rememeber this ...the food is dirty because the people are dirty. Yes i'm jealous of the 8 hours of GARBAGE sitting on the streets every night smelling up the city. Who wouldnt wanna see that. I had to come to NYC yesterday for work and at 4:30pm the daily garbage was already on the street and was still there at midnight. Thank God I brought food from the clean world with me to eat. I also saw 5 bums from the Port Auth. to my hotel. LittleGoldeneyes ...try going outside this area to see how humans live... you complete moron.

Let me ask you this, where would the Yankees be w/o all those huge free agent signings? (Texiera, CC, Burnett, ARod, on and on).
Well considering they didn't have three out of those four I just mentioned last year and didn't make the playoffs........ and their are still more that I am not mentioning.
I love it when people say the Yankees won with their core players. That is a lie. The didn't make the playoffs last year. They spent a ton of money in the offseason, then won the world series. Deal with it.......
I am not going to argue all day about it, and I am a Cleveland Indians fan. They are by far my favorite team. They have a cheap owner and have made some terrible trades so I am not going to blame all of their terrible times on the Yankees. That is a completley different point.
But getting on topic, good job by Girardi.

The police should check the driver's cell phone records. She was probably testing or talking on the cell phone when she crashed.
