hey steve (157), you obviously have never lived in NY, or else you might know what you are talking about beyond such superficial, on the surface, and obvious observations.

it was simply reported that joe g did a nice thing as it was related on the heels of a major sporting event. no different than if jerry jones or whoever had stopped and helped a motorist after the cowboys had played in a super bowl.

only an @#$% would take an innocuous human interest story like this this and spin it into a "we vs ny thing."

but that said, yeah, nyc does have the best looking women, the best cuisine, and many of the sharpest minds and most talented athletes, so i could see why you would be jealous and use the "garbage" and "rats" as easy points of reference as any jealous, idiotic simpleton would.

Have you been anywhere else? The best looking women? The only good looking women here are the women VISITING here. The rest are fat taco's. Who cares what Yankees haters say, they are just envious because their team didn't make it this time. If, by some miracle or accident, their team does win the WS, I'm sure they will declare it the best team, ever. We have to live with these psychologically challenged folks, they make good,but harmless targets for our fun. Remember, the word 'fan' is short for fanatic, and every sport has an abundant supply.

One of the reasons that the Bills, Browns, Raiders and let's throw in the Lions as well continue to suck year after year is because of the salary cap. Those teams get the top selections in the draft every year. Which means they have to shell out megabucks for some player like Ryan Leaf who turns out to be a waste of money. But because they have given that player so much they can't afford to pay for the guys in the trenches and end up getting a bunch of people who no one else wants who can't block, tackle or keep up with the talented people in the league. So those teams end up losing more, drafting high and getting screwed all over again the next year.

He summoned all the roids left in his system from his playing days and lifted the car over his head to help out.

He's one class act, that's for sure!

Big time Yankees fan here. But enough about the Yankees for the moment. I thank Joe Girardi as a responsible community oriented human being for aiding someone who definitely needed help. Aside from all of the decision making criticisms the guy gets, his unselfish act definitely shows what type of guy he is. Not judging most of us, but the majority of us would simply rubber-neck the scene and probably drive on. Thanks Joe for risking your life to aid anothers.

Win or lose, I love the Yankees - of course winning is better, WE and the team have to take the bad with the good and this year WAS GREAT!

hey #232. obviously every team technically pays for there players therefore a championship. but as a red sox fan having the 2nd highest payroll i know that it helps to have more money. it took the yanks 8 or 9 years cuz they spent money on crap but it had to happen eventually with them spending all there money like crazy A**holes. i know the sox coulda got teixeira if they really wanted him but they couldnt get him sabathia and burnett. anyway enjoy ur title and maybe next year youll get us in the ALCS instead of Chone @#$%ins and the Angels. thatll make things interesting!

Hey jerks who have posted inane comments. I am a lifelong REDSOX fan and HATE the Yankees. HATE HATE HATE. But at least I can recognize Joe Giradi for what he did. If you witness an accident you must let the police know that you did but you don't have to stop, especially on a busy road. So quit the moaning and groaning and give Joe the credit he deserves you jerks.

Joe's a good guy - he did the "Good Samaritan" thing to help the woman, and his deed sets a good example to all the young kids out there who are eager to learn more & more about the MLB players & staff that they look up to. On the other hand, it would've been said had he (or anyone else) not have stopped to help her.

I'm willing to bet that the lady who lost control and crashed her car on Westchester County parkway is totally embarrassed (and lucky she didn't get someone else and herself hurt). First, kudos to Joe for stopping and helping- he gets an A+ for citizenship. But just as importantly, I wonder what made that lady "lose control" of her car and crash? I think the weather report was relatively clear (safe for driving) that morning? Congrats Yankees. I can't stand them and yes, I'm jealous, but I respect them. Go Giants!

Well considering they didn't have three out of those four I just mentioned last year and didn't make the playoffs........ and their are still more that I am not mentioning.

I love it when people say the Yankees won with their core players. That is a lie. The didn't make the playoffs last year. They spent a ton of money in the offseason, then won the world series. Deal with it.......

I am not going to argue all day about it, and I am a Cleveland Indians fan. They are by far my favorite team. They have a cheap owner and have made some terrible trades so I am not going to blame all of their terrible times on the Yankees. That is a completley different point.

Ok first off, this goes to all the Yankee haters out there. Get a life. The Yankees won it by putting the best team they could on the field. All those other "small market teams" couldn't put the best team on the field because their owners are pocketing the money they get form the teams that pay more luxury tax. This is why, if a team like the marlins spends more to create a better team, the owner pays more tax. do you think the owner wants to do that? HELL NO HE DOESNT!!! Thats why teams like yours aren't competitive. And one more thing...a lot of comments say put in a salary cap because that will even the playing field. If that's the case then can someone tell me why the NBA L.A.clippers suck and the NFL oakland raiders suck? those two leagues have salary caps but both thoes teams suck year after year (except for the 2007 clippers when they made the playoffs, i think). if you want to say the Yankees bought a title, fine. That means every team in the history of sports bought a title because thats the whole point of a payroll.
