Dodgers’ Frank McCourt: `Painful and sad time’
LOS ANGELES (AP)—Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, mired in a bitter divorce and team ownership dispute with his estranged wife Jamie, says it has been a “very painful and sad” time.
McCourt tells KCAL-TV this has been the most trying time of his life, both personally and professionally. He also said Thursday he has written agreements that make it clear he is “sole owner” of the Dodgers and feels confident when all is said and done, a court will agree. The couple is fighting over who is the team’s rightful owner.
A judge has set a hearing for late May over the ownership issue.
