Blue Jays take interim tag off Beeston
TORONTO (AP)—The Toronto Blue Jays are taking the interim tag off Paul Beeston’s title.
He was appointed president and CEO of the club and Rogers Centre for a three-year term Tuesday.
Beeston took over from Paul Godfrey on an interim basis in October 2008. He said he didn’t want the job full-time, noting it demanded someone willing to make a 5-to-10 year commitment.
But team owner Rogers Communications Inc., encouraged him to take the permanent job.

Marcum, McGowan, Litsch and Jannsen should all be down in the minors for at least half the season. It is not that they will not be good pitchers, but they need a year of pitching to get their arm strength back and control would be a plus.
Tell Cito not to use starting pitchers in relief situations. Richmond was effective until they brought him out of the pen and he hurt his arm. Ruiz works at first in a platoon with Overbay, and Overbay can be used to solidify a trade deal if necessary. There will be six centre fielders available in the Jays price range through the free agency market. Lind and Snyder can platoon left field/DH. Bautista is a decent enough right fielder that should hit 25 HR and drive in 75-80 RBI's as an everyday player.
That leaves short, third, and behind the plate. Chavez should be resignable, and McDonald can be the everyday shortstop because Aaron hits for power.
Paul should load contracts with incentive bonuses. Open up contracts of existing players to add in performance incentives. Don't worry about Doc. If he sees that the Jays are taking steps to contend for the league championship, he will probably stay, and if he doesn't, then you can trade him quietly to the National League in August. Don't make a joke out of him this time around. Encarcion might work at third, but there are at least two available in the Jays price range on the free agent market.
That should leave enough money to get a top end closer or let League grow into the role. He can be as good as Henke, and that was not a bad experience for the Jays.
