    A-god for AL MVP. Mediocre team w/out him; arguably one of the best teams in MLB history with him. No brainer. Minnesota is probably the same team with or without Mauer. Yanks don't make the playoffs without A-god.

    Clyde, that's a good idea actually. MLB has been looking for a way to mimic the NFL Draft. maybe they're looking at the wrong side of the calendar?

    They have one awards ceremony for the Oscars, why not for baseball. Why do they have to drag it out? It's a god damn announcement. Do they sell tickets to the press conference?

    how can an award upstage a WS , come on !!! Its all about baseball who cares about awards . plus DJ just accepted the most important award the other night. ( ROBERTO CLEMETE) Now thats a real award!!!

    Friday, Nov. 6—AL and NL Manager of the Year awards
    Monday, Nov. 9—AL Rookie of the Year award
    Tuesday, Nov. 10—NL Rookie of the Year award
    Monday, Nov. 16—AL Cy Young Award
    Tuesday, Nov. 17—NL Cy Young Award
    Monday, Nov. 23—AL Most Valuable Player award
    Tuesday, Nov. 24—NL Most Valuable Player award

    The votes have to be in before the playoffs start (post marked by the last day of play). Then, they need time to get all the entries in and to tabulate them...

    Waiting until November insures that the Playoffs and World Series will not be upstaged and extend the publicity for MLB into the winter when nothing else baseball related will be taking place.

    Since MVP is supposed to be for regular season performance, I don't see why the award isn't made today.
