PHILADELPHIA — Nick Swisher's(notes) Game 3 line of 2-for-4 with a homer earned the previously slumping outfielder a trip to the World Series interview room on Saturday night. Before taking the stage, Swisher hammed it up with his own flip-cam, recording the moment (and the slightly annoyed amused media) for posterity's sake. He then sat down to answer a few questions and one of them was something about maintaining faith despite being benched for Game 2 and having every New York tabloid and blog write about his tiny numbers.

Said Swisher:

"I don't really read the papers. I'm more of a guy that looks at the pictures."

You don't say.

I remain a conflicted man on Swisher. On one hand, we can't rip players for not showing emotion and then hypocritically rip them when they actually do.

On the other, Swish reminds you of that guy in the back of your English class who never pays attention and keeps asking to go to the bathroom so he can go look in the doors of other classrooms and try to make his friends laugh. Funny at first, but after awhile you start looking for the 'off' switch.

Maybe he's just best taken in measured doses. What do you think?

Swisher is the guy that helps smash the long-standing stereotype the Yankees have had for being "machine-like professional mercenary killers that never have fun."
Whatever that feeling about the Yankees was, its gone now in thanks to guys like Swisher, Burnett and the weird duo of Cabrera and Cano. The locker room isn't uptight and joyless anymore.

As an A's fan, I miss Swisher. He gives the fans of whatever team he's on (except for his stint in Chi-town) some kind of tangible personality, and its easy to relate to seeing him get happy over doing something good. His antics don't come off as showing the other team up, and they come off as genuine, which is hard to find in baseball, much less other sports like pro football. The only problem is that as an A's fan, I miss seeing him on my team every time he celebrates something, because it should be in a green-and-gold uni. I like Ryan Sweeney, but Gio Gonzalez is not worth the joy of seeing Swish wildly celebrate something. Beene should take into account the value of guys like Swish, who aren't perfect at all (weak arm, stumpy legs leading to less than adequate speed, lack of contact for more power), but who make watching the team fun. Who's the big dog on the A's now? Zuk? Sweeney? Dallas Braden? Geez. They pale in comparison to the league-leader of looking silly, for the fun of the game, Swisher.

I've been a Yankee fan all my life, and Swisher's player T is the only one I've ever purchased. I don't know if that counts for anything...but hey, I know he's not the greatest player, but he's got a lot of heart, is super entertaining (sure knows how to give the fans a show), and he's just a great guy to root for. I hope the Yanks don't try to get rid of him next season, because I really believe he's worked wonders for their clubhouse morale. Go Yanks! Go Swish!

I think 'J ta tha P' just owned 'Duk, lol
And to answer the question, I luuuuuv me some Nick Swisher. As others have said, it's refreshing to see a guy have fun out there on the diamond and really seem to be enjoying what he's doing. No he's not a 'superstar' but I would loath to let him get away. I hope the Yankees keep him around, the clubhouse needs him, and he looks great in pinstripes ;)

What's not to like about Swisher?
Let me ask, which type of kid in the classroom is Jimmy Rollins?
Idiots yankee haters drinkin' haterade will always find something to pick apart. Cry me a river.
