I think most of the baseball blogosphere missed this sad story when Mockingbird posted it earlier in the month, but the World Series ring that Derek Bell won with the Blue Jays in 1992 was up for sale on eBay. However, the final bid of $7,499 did not meet the reserve price when the auction ended over the weekend. The ring had a Buy-It-Now price of almost $17K.
Bell, who made almost $27 million during his 11-year career, has had his share of drug problems since retiring, so no jokes to be found here. Here's hoping he can turn it around.
