Big League Stew - MLB

NEW YORK — There are now just under two hours left until the first pitch of World Series Game 6 and it can't come fast enough.* While it was fun to talk about storylines like Chase Utley's MVP status, the possibility of Pedro Martinez's last turn on the big stage and factors that may or may not affect Andy Pettitte's effort, it's time to play ball.

*Because there are only so many chuckles you can get out of a NY post cover.

Are we headed for another high-scoring affair like Game 5? A duel between the two old horses, Pedro and Pettitte, like in Game 2? I think we're headed for the latter and it'll turn into a classic on what's a very chilly November night in the Bronx. For fans as baseball, it doesn't get much better than two familiar opponents facing off with the World Series on the line. (Well, unless it's a Game 7 that features CC Sabathia(notes) vs. Cliff Lee(notes), but first things first.)

More to come later, but feel free to discuss the game in the space below.

be even funnier when series goes to game 7....if phillies hitters are coming alive then yankee's better pray they can shut them down tonight..if not look for defending champs to repeat.....when yankee's get shut down in their own house it'll be hard to ignore especially when opposing team comes to win not lose....im curious to see if the hype can live up to what all the "experts" are saying about yankee's finally getting the championship they "deserve"....earning and deserving aren't the same thing....we'll see.....who wants it more tonight...and deserving will have nothing to do with it........

i am waiting to see if he spends 850 million on 2 players and break his own spending spree for 3 players...
