Fall Series event moves to California

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP)—The Frys.com Open is leaving Arizona to a temporary home at CordeValle Resort in northern California, putting it closer to the title sponsor’s corporate headquarters.

The Fall Series event again will be held in October in 2010.

CordeValle stretches across the foothills, canyons and broad meadows of San Martin, about 15 miles south of Fry’s Electronics corporate headquarters in San Jose. CordeValle was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and already has a college tournament hosted by the UCLA golf team.

The tournament began in 2006 and has been played in Las Vegas and the last two years at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Interesting that, with all the terrific courses in the Los Angeles area, that UCLA would host a golf tournament about 400 miles away from campus. Something seems wrong with that picture...

What a treat to seeTroy Matteson win! My golf partner Linda and I watched and met Troy and his wife when they played in Glenview, IL in the nationwide tour at The La Salle bank tournament aoubt 5 years ago.
They're such nice people and I'm so glad he's doing so well. Hope to watch many more wins.

Ron H. - the only way you could beat Tiger is if he was playing left handed. And that's a big IF.

The article is about 20 year old Rickie Fowler and Greg Owen leading the tournament, Nick O'hern has (surprise, surprise) fallen to two back. Not one post mentions or congratulates either Rickie, tied for the lead in his second pro tournament or the Brit; Owen. Half the posts mention Eldrick, who isn't even in the tournament, being better than O'hern who isn't leading the tournament. And people wonder why at least half of us are sick of Mr. Tantrum. People blame the media for this striped overload, but it's people like Ron H. (who usually writes great posts) and Emmanuel who keep Tiger in the forfront. Wake up he's not playing this week.

Of course Tiger is better then O'Hern, even O'Hern would say Tiger is better. But golf is the
type of game where one player can be off his game a little and an inferior player can get hot
and win. All it takes is a hot putter. I could beat Tiger if he played lousy and I chipped in every
hole! It's not likely to happen, but its not impossible either.

    Dear Mr. Andrew Bagnato,
Good thing our Tiger is not playing at the Frys.com with O'Hern! Probably Tiger would have taken him down!!! Anyway the historical records speak for itself! They will remember Tiger and not O'Hern!!!Where was O'Hern when Tiger won during these years? Or how was O'Hern far below the leaderboard on so many major golf events Tiger won? Accentuating Tiger's 2 beatings of some years ago could be a lopsided sports writing....in my personal opinion.

My addvise, for what it's worth..Sit tight where you are Mr. Ried...they still want you, so that's a plus. Hasn't anyone out there told you how tough things have gotten?? Be glad they are even working on your new digs...If we don't get out of the toilet, they may call that off..and if Frys doesn't have a good holiday season, THEY may just call it off...STUB
