Usually when an email finds me from Nigeria, it's asking me to provide a bank account to hold money. (I've provided my account to seven princes, still no cash! What's up with that?) But today was different. Today, I received an email from a gentleman named Cliff Friedman, taking me to task for not chastising Natalie Gulbis for hitting a golf ball at a guy in that video last week. (Advice taken. Folks, don't hit golf balls at people, not even if you're an LPGA superstar.)
Well, turns out Cliff is the general manager of the Ibom Golf Club in Nigeria, and he also sent along a few photos and some info on the region's developing golf scene. The country has 10,000 golfers and about 60 courses, and is developing a junior golf program as well as a calendar of tournaments for both pros and amateurs.

Hopefully they'll be teaching the kids to hit 'em straight, because that rough looks brutal.
Thanks to Cliff for sending along the photos. And if you happen to be reading this in some international territory, feel free to send along your golf course pics to jay.busbee@yahoo.com. We'll show you to the world!

There is so much great golf in the United States there is no doubt, but it is unbelievable just how much truly fantastic golf there is all around the world, and how little attention it gets. Thanks for doing your part.
