Next Match: away to Inter Milan, January 27 Torino are unbeaten in five games and up to 11th place in the Serie A table on the back of three recent wins. Goals from Mario Santana and Alessio Cerci handed Il Toro a 2-0 victory at Pescara and club president Urbano Cairo was delighted. "I went to see the coach and all the lads to compliment them for the great win at Pescara, but also to ask them to stay tighter and concentrate harder," he said. "We have to continue with the same application on the field and, if the performance is there, the rest will follow." Striker Gianluca Sansone has been linked with a move elsewhere in the current transfer window but Cairo sees his future at the Stadio Olimpico. He added: "Sansone has not asked me if he can leave and I have no intentions of letting him go. As far as I know he is not unhappy. We wanted to buy him for a significant fee and we have great confidence in him, so there is no problem." Torino's personnel concerns are starting to lift, with Italy defender Angelo Ogbonna the only confirmed absentee on a trip to the San Siro. Cerci, Danilo D'Ambrosio and Riccardo Meggiorini face late fitness tests, though. The history books are against the Granata in this fixture, with Inter Milan claiming 14 victories from 17 meetings since Torino's last win back in February 1994. Diego Milito and Antonio Cassano scored the goals as the reverse fixture ended 2-0 to Inter, but both strikers are set to be absent through injury on Sunday. |
